The YouTube shorts video below from ADF Sprinters highlights a new and unique camper van bed design that I had not previously seen. It might just be one of the best camper van bed designs I have seen. ADF Sprinters builds the Tri-Max bed in-house for their van conversions, tailored to your needs and van style, of course.
The bed is hinged in the center. This allows it to be folded up and out of the way in seconds. Watch the video and see it in action.
The reverse is also true when it’s bedtime. Reverse the process and fold down and you are ready to make the bed and go to sleep.
This design provides the comfort of a full-sized platform bed. It also provides the versatility of a Murphy bed in that it quickly folds up and out of the way. The space that is normally taken up by the bed platform in the van then becomes living space or space for transporting toys or other large items to the campsite.
I think this unusual camper van bed design gives van lifers some practical pluses.

That’s quite nifty and very practical!
Good unique idea, better than most Class B designs we have seen, if that meets your needs. Would not our personal requirements for the Class B that we designed for our van’s interior.
After watching the video on YouTube and reading the comments from other viewers, this may not be the winner it first appears as. I liked the comment from a “fun-sized adult”. Never heard that term before . . .
Almost any articulating bed has one issue – it’s a challenge to use regular bedding. You are pretty much limited to sleep sacks or face the daily time needed to make and disassemble the bed.
Our 1st small self-contained camper gave us a choice of a bed or a table. Fairly quickly, we did a better bed and used trays for meals. Ultimately we found a slightly longer camper with both a bed and a small dinette. For others, the sleep sack option is fine.
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Well, it is a great idea, given the problem it addresses. A class B is a bit too small, given our travel style. So, I’ll likely never know how comfortable, or easy to make, this bed is. Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
