Certified RV tech Jacob Rigor of Rigor RV Repair recently bought an RV for less than he could resell it for. That got him thinking about how to get the best deal on an RV. He came up with five tips that he shares in the video below.

#1 Be ready to move quickly: If it’s really a good deal it is not going to stick around. The best deals will come from individual sellers. The seller is looking for whoever can give them cash first. So have cash on hand when used RV shopping.
If you are going the financing route, have it in order before shopping as you will need to have some way to prove that you can pay for the RV when you go shopping. Hand in hand with being ready to move quickly is being able to go and look at a potential RV right away, so keep your schedule clear.
#2 Know the comps: Before you even contact the owner you should know what a typical RV of that brand, age, and condition would sell for. The reason Jacob was able to immediately recognize the deal on his RV is because he had already been shopping a lot.
#3 Act like a serious buyer: Anyone posting a real deal is getting flooded with messages. Make it obvious to the seller you have cash in hand, are ready to move, and are not trying to nickel-and-dime them.
#4 Know what is easy and hard to fix on an RV: This way you can make a more informed decision about if the RV really is a good deal after all.
#5 Be educated on RV systems: Jacob has a system for evaluating the RV and he talks about its components in the last part of the video.

I find in trying to sell an RV, there are a lot of scammers. The most I had were with RV trader. I found even some of the big RV dealers will try and get you to consign your RV to them while trying to scam you on the price and sell something like an inspection to generate money for themself. Or if they sell it for less than what you owe on it, they expect you to pay the difference.
