A unique plow disc grill changes ‘everything’ about camp cooking

If you have been looking for a great way to cook at camp that packs small but cooks large, the team from Playing with Sticks is about to introduce us to a camp plow disc grill that they say “changes everything.”

In the video, they demonstrate the Skottle, a propane-fueled giant griddle that can make feeding a camp full of campers a breeze.

Also known as a plow disc cooker, our host begins by explaining that you can also make your own version of this terrific camp cooking grill for a fraction of the cost of the commercial one. I will look for a DIY video for another post.

Whether you make your own plow disc grill or use Skottle or another brand, the video will show you why this type of camp griddle is so great. Here are some of the advantages:

• Because the cooking surface is so large, you can cook a lot on it and serve it once, meaning no more lukewarm foods
• It cuts down on pots and pans needed for cooking
• It works great for cooking and reheating
• It can also bake—the video shows how
• Cooking cleanup is quick

I love these types of griddles for their practicality. However, I would not use a one-pound propane cylinder like they do in the video; but it is easy to attach this grill to a larger propane tank.
