Simple but brilliant RV pool noodle hacks

By Cheri Sicard
The video at the bottom of this article from RVing Women presents some creative pool noodle hacks that RVers will love.

This video will inspire you to pick up some pool noodles from your local dollar store.

For most of these uses, you’ll want to split the pool noodles open lengthwise. The video shows you how.

So what are the RV pool noodle hacks? Let’s explore

#1 Windshield wiper covers: These protect windshield wipers from damaging UV rays, especially if you will be parked in the sun for extended periods. One word of warning: Be sure to use pool noodles and not pipe insulation for this. The latter will melt and be a bear to get off.

#2 Water connector protectors: These will protect plumbing connections in your undercarriage storage areas.

#3 Microwave protector: A length of pool noodle wedged into the microwave keeps the glass dish in place when you are going down the road.

#4 Awning rail protector: Does your door hit your awning rail? Protect it with a pool noodle.

#5 Low awning rails: Help draw attention to these low-hanging hazards with pool noodles.

#6 Fishing rod storage: Protect your fishing rods going down the road by storing them safely in pool noodles.

#7 Window protection: Protect against walking into out-opening windows with a pool noodle attached to the bottom.

#8 Awning and tent tie-downs: Wrap a pool noodle around these to draw attention to them and to keep folks from tripping over them.

#9 Slide-out protection: Accidentally walking into the sharp corner of an extended slide-out room is painful, but not when it’s covered with a pool noodle.

Here’s a past article from Gail Marsh for even more ways RVers can use pool noodles.

When I had my door latched open the wind would rattle the door. I cut a length of pool noodle the same lenght as the latching rod (T bar) so the noodle would compress when latched. No more rattling.

I have been using pipe insulation for my wipers for about 15 years without any melting. I take them off while traveling then put them back on when I get to the RV Park at the end of daily drive.
