You won’t believe how much an inexpensive RV remodel can change an RV, but after you watch the video below from Christina, aka The DIY Mommy, you’ll be a believer.
Christina’s RV started out as an ordinary, if not dated-looking, 2007 Jayco 30-foot 5th wheel. Her husband, a general contractor, electrician, and mechanic, checked out the RV for general soundness before they bought it and she began the project. They spent $10,000 on the used RV.
In this video, you will see the progress, time-lapsed, of the entire project. As it took Christina about two years to complete, that’s a lot of time-lapse! If you are thinking about an RV remodel, this will give you a LOT of inspiration. However, be sure to read this post before beginning any RV remodel.
Christina completed the RV remodel in three stages:
- Kitchen and main living area
- Children’s bunkroom
- Main bedroom and bathroom.
Christina started by taking out the carpeting, window valances, the ugly bordered wallpaper, and the dinette, too. She also removed all the cabinet doors as they are easier to paint that way. Then she gave everything a thorough cleaning with a degreasing cleaner.
Watch the video. Not only is that the only way to appreciate the effects of all of Christina’s work, but along the way she shares tips and tricks for what worked and what didn’t.
After painting, she added a peel-and-stick backsplash to the kitchen. The counter got an upgrade with peel-and-stick contact paper (something I personally would not recommend, especially if you cook a lot, as it’s not that tough).
Next came vinyl plank flooring. Then she showed the RV’s light fixtures some love and added a new sofa, table and chairs.
For the second part of the RV remodel, she turned her attention to the utilitarian bunkroom. When Christina was finished, it was a lovely feminine bedroom for her three girls.
She finished by giving the main bedroom and bathroom a more modern look.
It looks great, but how much did it all cost? Surprisingly only about $1,800! That’s a lot of style for not too much cash. Of course, it also took a lot of work which is not factored in.

This was a great watch! This lady has way more energy than we do, but her makeover really changed the look and feel of their trailer. I wish our trailer had this much lighter color in it. Our 2012 has the typical dark cabinets and furniture of that time period. Both wifey and I like light colors, but we’d have to hire a painter to do this. Thanks, Cheri, for this video of someone much more energetic than us.
I did it, but I hired a painter/handyman with a sprayer to help. But it is A LOT of work for sure. I would think twice before doing it again, but it came out great. You can see some before and after photos in this post.
