Visit Love’s in West Texas; explore Hangar 25 Air Museum nearby

If you’re rolling along I-20 through West Texas, there’s a new spot worth adding to your travel map. Love’s has just opened a brand-new travel stop in Big Spring, right off Exit 176. Tucked conveniently between the Midland and Sweetwater locations, it gives RVers another reliable overnight option on this busy stretch of highway. And just minutes away you’ll find a West Texas road trip attraction.

This stop isn’t just another fuel station—it’s built with travelers in mind. Six RV hookup sites are available, either by reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis. That means you can plan ahead for a safe overnight stay or simply roll in and see what’s open. For RVers, having dependable spots with hookups can make all the difference after a long day on the road.

Love’s usual amenities, with a side of West Texas road trip attraction

Inside, the store has plenty of amenities to make your visit comfortable. Fresh, hot showers, a dog park for your four-legged co-pilot, and convenient self-checkout kiosks make it easy to get in, get what you need, and get back on the road. The location has 105 truck parking spots, nine diesel bays, and a CAT Scale, making it spacious enough to handle busy travel days while still leaving room for RVs.

Food options are plentiful. Love’s Fresh Kitchen offers made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and fresh fruit, while an Arby’s and a Dunkin’ provide quick comfort food and coffee. Whether you’re grabbing a snack for the road, refueling after a long drive, or looking for a meal before bed, the Big Spring Love’s has you covered.

Hangar 25 Air Museum

If you have a little extra time, there’s a nearby attraction that makes a perfect side trip for RVers. Hangar 25 Air Museum, located just a few minutes from Love’s at the McMahon-Wrinkle Airport, is a must-visit for history and aviation enthusiasts.

Housed in a restored World War II-era hangar, the museum showcases vintage aircraft, including a B-52 nose section, a T-33A, a T-37B, and a Harrier jet, along with military memorabilia and personal stories from veterans.

The exhibits highlight the Big Spring Army Air Force Bombardier School and the local Air Force base, providing insight into the region’s rich aviation history. With free admission, plenty of parking for RVs, and even pet-friendly areas, it’s an easy and fascinating stop to stretch your legs before hitting the road again.

Hookups and Hangars

For RVers traveling I-20, the new Big Spring Love’s is a solid choice for a rest break, a meal, or a safe place to plug in for the night. Between the hookups, showers, dog-friendly areas, ample parking, and convenient food options, it’s easy to see why this location will quickly become a favorite among the West Texas road-tripping crowd.

And if you’re looking to combine a practical stop with a touch of local culture and history, a quick visit to Hangar 25 Air Museum makes for a perfect companion excursion.

Russ and Tiña De Maris
Russ and Tiña went from childhood tent camping to RVing in the 1980s when the ground got too hard. They've been tutored in the ways of RVing (and RV repair) by a series of rigs, from truck campers, to a fifth-wheel, and several travel trailers. In addition to writing scores of articles on RVing topics, they've also taught college classes for folks new to RVing. They authored the book, RV Boondocking Basics.

Thank you for the news, Russ and Tina! What Bill said.
PS. Also, we are overnighting in a Love’s Travel Stop in Brigham City, Utah. Surprisingly, among the 40, or so, sites are 5 or 6 (more?) long-term campers as evidenced by the very large propane tanks affixed to the RVs on those sites. Almost all (all?) of the long-termers are in back-in sites. We and a few other “travelers” (so indicated by our attached toweds) are in a few of the pull-through sites.
