Are you looking for a fifth wheel trailer that’s compact, reasonably priced, and roomy enough for a couple? The 2025 Jayco Eagle SLE 24MLE might be the answer. This newly launched member of the Eagle lineup provides a lighter, more affordable option for weekend getaways or long-term adventures. Check out the walk-through video immediately below by Josh the RV Nerd, who outlines the pros and cons of this interesting new RV.
What is the Eagle SLE all about?
What does “SLE” stand for? While the specific meaning isn’t defined, it’s fitting to think of it as the “Smarter Lighter Edition.” The Eagle SLE simplifies the luxurious Eagle fifth wheel model by trimming down unnecessary extras, reducing weight, and enhancing towability. This makes it suitable for short camping trips or for owners with less hefty tow vehicles.
The Eagle SLE 24MLE takes many of the same features found in its higher-end counterparts but makes them more accessible and practical.
Inside the RV
This fifth wheel balances functionality with comfort. Jayco offers a highly accessible design, incorporating practical features like carpetless flooring and vent-free heating that keeps your feet warm without compromising cleanliness. It pairs all the basics you need with smart design choices that make life on the road more enjoyable.
Living area and kitchen highlights
- Spacious layout: The open floor plan makes it feel larger than its under-30-foot length would suggest.
- Kitchen features: While an 8-cubic-foot 12V compressor fridge may be slightly smaller than other options, Jayco made good use of that space by adding a bonus storage drawer beneath it.
- Counter space: One standout feature is the seamless countertop. Many competitors use countertops with seams that can trap water and cause damage, but Jayco’s design reduces that risk.
- Easy storage access: Instead of pop-up power outlets, standard outlets are strategically placed, helping balance utility with affordability.
The downside? The dinette comes with knee-knocker posts that might be inconvenient, but they can be easily swapped out for free-floating legs.
Bedroom comforts
Couples will appreciate the 60×80-inch true queen bed—rare at this price. You’ll also find smart storage solutions with a combination of bedside stands, USB plugs and inverter-prepped outlets for charging devices. Even the closet and wardrobe slide are well-designed, featuring extra drawers and a slide mechanism for long-term storage. And when it’s time to make the bed, gas strut supports ease lifting and accessing the storage area under the bed.
On-the-road mode
How practical is the 24MLE when traveling from point A to point B? All critical areas—like the bathroom, bedroom, and refrigerator—remain accessible even when the slide is closed. This means you can stop at a rest area without disrupting your comfort.
Without needing major contortions, you’ll have easy access to:
- The queen bed
- Bathroom facilities
- Main storage areas
- Dinette seating
It’s an excellent choice for road trips with frequent stops, allowing time to rest and recharge without putting out the slides.
Exterior features and build quality
Jayco didn’t just focus on the interior. The 24MLE features a build designed to hold up against outdoor elements while offering plenty of perks:
- Solar ready: A 200W solar panel system is standard, with an optional upgrade to 400W, and a 2,000W inverter for more off-grid capability.
- Weather protection: Despite being a more affordable model, it keeps essentials like an enclosed, heated belly to protect tanks and lines in cooler weather.
- Towability: With an empty weight of 7,690 pounds and a length of just over 29 feet, this fifth wheel fits into the “easier to tow” category, even though it’s better suited for a three-quarter-ton truck rather than a half-ton.
Practical camping features
One unique feature on the 24MLE is the inclusion of a peephole in the entry door instead of a large window. This might seem unconventional but it offers an extra layer of privacy that some RVers might appreciate. Additionally, the large rear storage compartment can adapt to whatever you bring along, from grills to portable refrigerators.
Enhanced warranty
Even at its base level, Jayco maintains its 2+3 year warranty: 2-year limited warranty and 3-year structural warranty.
Is it right for you?
The 2025 Jayco Eagle SLE 24MLE carves out a perfect spot in the couples’ camping niche—providing great features, easy mobility, and a more affordable price point. [Price starts at $55,007.] While it doesn’t have all the high-end add-ons of pricier models, it covers the basics very well. In short, it balances what matters most without piling on extras.

I look forward to getting the RVTravel emails on Saturday and Sunday, then sitting with my coffee to read through the articles. However, I’m to the point where I am skipping any of your articles that do not have someone’s name to credit them as the writer, and that is happening more frequently. With that credit also comes a responsibility for what is put forth. AI is great when used properly, but the information it produces still needs vetting. Perhaps I am wrong, but I don’t feel the assumption that this article was produced by AI is unreasonable and, therefore, of questionable veracity. It’s not worth my time.
Hey BryanC…I too have had your concerns. Heck…I said I would never have a cell phone! 😅 AI is here whether we like it or not. I have come to understand it is now an issue of how it is used and having it overseen by the “good” of us and not the “bad” as has been with the internet! I truly feel your pain…however…I know when I learn instead of simply fearing or not liking something…I see things better and end up with a greater understanding of how to navigate the “new”. I miss many things that are no longer…however…we live in the “now” and navigating new things can be quite enriching and enjoyable! Wishing you the best on this journey through life…it’s the ride we make it! 🤗
Kara, I appreciate your response (and Chuck’s response to Neal D). The problem is not using AI; the problem is no one taking responsibility for the review. Who oversees what is written? Who verifies the accuracy of the information? These articles eventually becomes suspect, and that diminishes the respect that RVTravel has worked so diligently to earn. Of course, this is just my opinion and I’m only one subscriber. Admittedly, this is a difficult time for niche publications.
Bryan C, See my reply to Neal Davis.
This trailer looks to be workable. The access to almost everything with the slide still in makes it ‘special’ in my book. Too bad we’re not in the market for a new trailer.
Thank you, RV Travel for attempting to continue the “RV Review” column. Somehow little of this, particularly the absence of any discussion of the suspension, tires, presence or absence of an oven, and its vertical height (or lack thereof), suggests to me that a skilled reviewer (e.g., Tony) composed thus. I’ll stop short of speculating AI wrote it, but I will join BryanC in registering my disappointment. Have a great week and safe travels!
Neal, it is based on Josh’s review in his video. Now that our circulation has been cut in half by Google stealing our traffic (and that of other websites) to deliver answers to searches using A.I. right on Google.com rather than show websites where the information might be better, we have had to temporarily reduce our pay to writers. Tony needs to earn a living and, for now, he is putting some of his efforts elsewhere. Our expectation is that he will return, but for now it’s time for us to take a long hard look at life with A.I., and “after Google,” and that means staying within our budget as we plot our future. It’s challenging but definitely do-able.
Thank you for the explanation, Chuck! Good luck with navigating the huge revenue shortfall! Have a great week and safe travels!
Hate this tired old design of the bedroom up front, said to be done for safety and separation from the living space, hustle and bustle to enjoy being closer to the quiet solitude of the outdoors. Really, in either situation of a back in or pull through spot the front of the rv is right at the drive way / spot access where there’s always vehicle or foot traffic. My Jayco travel trailer has two doors, floor plan could have been flipped, just saying.
