Battling a battalion of shoes! Easy shoe storage for the RV

I seem to always be in a battle with a battalion of shoes! They never stay in formation. I have figured out where to kick them off when we come in the motorhome. I had a system in our old RV of stacking the shoes behind a chair, but that doesn’t work anymore. I needed a new shoe storage system for our RV.

Now, since the size of our RV has increased, so, it seems, has the number of shoes. I thought I had the problem solved with a standard shoe rack turned backward to the wall so the shoes slope toward the wall. Solved. Until it wasn’t.

This year’s RVing trip took us around many more curves, bumps and potholes than ever and it threw that idea literally on the floor.

Remembering how we had stuffed the shoes behind a chair, I added another (a second) shoe rack and was able to fit shoes more securely while in motion. Got my shoelaces crossed!

The silver rack was from the Container Store and the black one is available on Amazon.

Our KZ 270 has shoe storage under both sides of the bed. Two open shelves on either side with lips to keep the shoes from coming out. Enough room for 6 pairs of shoes per side. It does cut into the under bed storage space, they are out of the way.

Being in a B+, we have very little floor space for shoes. I bought two shoe holders that attach to the wall by our coach door and the rest of the shoes go in a large rope basket that is stored in the shower. The shower also has a tension bar that holds our jackets. All come out when it’s time to take a shower. Use of vertical space is important when in a small floor plan!

Curious about the slipper with no mate. 🙂

Our shoe storage is the bathroom door in our Coachmen 192RBS. My wife originally hung a closet jewelry organizer from it and each shoe went into one of the plastic pouches. We’ve since modified that after I removed the panel from under the front of the bed and replaced it with a custom flip-down door (no more lifting the mattress to access that storage space!). I then made a frame with V-shaped openings sort of like a file folder organizer where the front panels are made from that panel that matches the rest of the paneling in the trailer.

Airstream Trailer minimize storage space. The fact I wear a men’s size 15 makes it worse.

If I had that many shoes I would get so confused as to what to wear when I got dressed in the morning.

Good luck with your problem, Nanci! We just toss them onto the closet floor; mine on my side and DW’s on her side. However, we travel less (?) than you, so we travel with fewer shoes.
