Gun threat at campground uncovers RV’s magic mushroom lab

When state police got a call that a campground staffer had been threatened with a gun, little did they expect a “magic” experience. But before police were able to clear the scene, the gun threat also revealed a “secret garden” of so-called magic mushrooms in an RV—and a fugitive under the bed.

Magic mushrooms bust follows water shutoff threats

A worker at Sawmill Campground in Pennsylvania’s Bedford County called for help after an altercation with a campground guest. The worker had stopped by to tell the guest that they would have to shut off the water to his site. The guest was identified as Raymond Foreman Jr. (37), a Bedford resident. The worker, alarmed at Foreman’s alleged response of, “I’ll kill you” if the water was cut off, called for help.

State police responding to the January 31 incident reported that Foreman told them that he, of course, didn’t have a handgun. After all, he wasn’t allowed to possess one. However, police did find something he possessed in his pant’s pocket—a baggie with what police believed to be Psilocybin—or magic mushrooms.

On taking a look around the inside of Foreman’s RV, police got a bit of a surprise. Hiding under the bed was Rebecca Baker, of Roaring Spring. Authorities wanted the 35-year-old Baker on a warrant for retail theft charges. It must have been quite a surprise, as just a bit earlier, Raymond Foreman had told police he had no idea where Baker was as they’d had an argument and she’d taken off.

‘Shrooms lead to room in county prison

Troopers later obtained a search warrant. Warrant in hand, they found packages of magic mushrooms ready for distribution, as well as a mushroom grow operation inside Foreman’s Winnebago. They also discovered digital scales and packaging materials, but they reported no firearms.

Foreman is facing charges of terroristic threats, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver. The authorities currently hold him in Bedford County Prison with bail set at $250,000. The last charge with the growing of magic mushrooms is a felony.

Thank you, Russ and Tina, for the news. Geez! I sometimes wish that we could go RVing more often. This little escapade makes me think otherwise. Glad that no actual firearms were involved. Have a great day and safe travels!
