Camping World dealerships seem to multiply like flies. On January 2, the big corporate RV seller said it had closed the deal for taking over Ashley Outdoors. The latter was an independent RV dealer in Salem, Alabama. But this is only the beginning, according to a Camping World news release.
Camping World says it intends to add 14 more locations in addition to the recent Alabama acquisition, all in the span of three months. It may not be quite as impressive as it sounds, as the 15 locations will include those it has already announced it was taking over.

It really is unfortunate that the Yugo of dealerships instead of a company dedicated to quality is spreading around the country.
Comparing a dealership known for its lack of empathy and ethics to a Yugo is a disservice to Yugo.
Seems that this part of the industry is headed down the road to self destruction.
Thanks for the warning, I will stay far away from them.
It’s time our federal government steps in and stops Camping Worlds monopoly and investigate consumers complaints.
They are destroying the little guy. Forcing the privately owned dealers to close shop since they cannot compete with all the high pressure sales tactics. Camping World could care less about customers once they walk out the door.
There is a big RV show in Pittsburgh this week. Camping World is a no show.
Are they afraid of the other honest dealers and cannot justify lying to potential customers?
We have a CW within 10 miles and I refuse to walk through their door. It’s like swimming in “shark” infested waters.
I agree that the government should investigate them.
BTW, they are not BBB accredited. Tells you something.
My dealer in Central NY said that CW has dropped out of just about every local RV association and is putting on their own shows shallowly disguised as an RV show but is actually nothing more than a giant CW sales event. We have one this weekend and I have no desire whatsoever to attend the event. As far as them putting the little guys out of business, we have two ‘little guy’ dealerships that are thriving. One is growing into a regional dealership chain with a reputation for honesty and ethical treatment of their customers.
Whew! Nevada dodged the bullet – for now.
They can open 1000 next month and won’t see me in any of them.
Remember when CW was actually a good place to get things?! I do, but not since Marcus took over and ruined it.
Thank you, Russ and Tina! Just “what the world needs now is …” more Camping Worlds?!? No, that’s not how the song went. 🙁
CW…absolutely NOT…run from this corporation like it’s the plague.
I wonder if
will keep their name or change it to Camping World. In the rvtravel.com article Camping World to offer exclusive RV brands at some stores it is not obvious that some of the brand name stores are actually Camping World. Deceptive and deceitful.
More lousy service, inflated prices, and horrible customer relations? Don’t we already have enough?
Our politicians need to step in and stop the Camping World monopoly. With all the complaints about the poor quality work they do. Why don’t the state attorney generals do something.
Maybe with CW buying dealerships more independent RV service centers will crop up near CW dealerships. Let CW pay the high costs of keeping RV’s on their lots.
