We stumbled upon the photo above of this unique motorhome on a YouTube channel called GMC Motorhome Rehab Ranch. It turns out that in 1978 five of these Class A GMC motorhomes were awarded as prizes in a Coca Cola sweepstakes promotion. The RVs had a value of $40,000 in the day.

In the video at the bottom of this article, the Motorhome Rehab Ranch owner Jim Bounds takes the RV on a spin with its new owner Donald Trump (not really, but he sure does look like him) after Jim had totally restored it.
The short video focuses on the two men talking as they take turns driving. Bounds is especially animated when he talks about how effortlessly the RV drives and the unique peculiarities of the RV.

The limited production RV was called a GadAbout. One of its more interesting features is the refrigerator, which is modeled after a Coke vending machine. The rear spare tire cover is unique, too, shaped like a giant bottle cap. We wish we knew the story of the RV shown at the top of this page: It appears to have a Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) placard where a front license plate would normally go. Do you know anything?
Learn more about Motorhome Rehab Ranch at its website. There is no charge to visit, but memberships are available which, for one thing, offer special access to Jim with questions.
If you’d like to own one of these RVs you might get lucky and score one through the classifieds of the GMCA Motorhomes International website classified section.
