After a consumer filed a complaint with federal authorities, Forest River found 25 reports of breaking LP cylinder brackets. Now more than 800 travel trailers from two model years will need to be checked to see if they need replacement brackets.
Forest River, Inc (Forest River) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Clipper and Viking travel trailers. They include 2024 CLIPPER CWT15CBHCADET, CLIPPER CWT17CBHCADET, CLIPPER CWT17CFQCADET, CLIPPER CWT182DBU, CLIPPER CWT18FQ, and 2025 CLIPPER CWT17CBHCADET, CLIPPER CWT17CFQCADET, CLIPPER CWT18FQ. The bottle bracket welds may break and cause the propane tank to detach from the vehicle. A detached propane tank may become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash. 864 RVs are affected by this recall.
Breaking LP cylinder bracket remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the bottle bracket as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 15, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-269-467-8283. Forest River’s number for this recall is 121-1874.

Breaking bracket background
A “Vehicle Owner Questionnaire” (VOQ) is a form used by consumers to file a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding a potential safety defect in their vehicle. It details information about the issue, vehicle details, and circumstances surrounding the problem.
Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) received a Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (“VOQ”) from NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigations (“ODI”). This led Forest River to review warranty claims and complaints of the “L Bracket” used to mount the LPG tank.
When Forest River looked in their files, they found “potential trends” in warranty claims. Some 25 claims concerning breaking LP cylinder brackets were already on file. On December 6, 2024, Forest River’s Corporate Committee voted to recall.
