If you’ve been dreaming of parking your rig beneath the towering peaks of Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park this summer, you may be in luck.
As of July 22, 2025, the park has released additional campsite reservations for Moraine Park Campground. This gives RVers another shot at snagging a site during the busy summer season.
Take action today
The National Park Service has officially opened up more reservation slots for Moraine Park Campground. The newly opened dates include July 23 through September 9. These newly released sites become available at 8 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov, via their app, or by calling 877-444-6777.
This release is part of the park’s Moraine Park Campground Utility Rehabilitation Project. This project included a much-needed effort to modernize essential services like water, sewer, and electrical systems. The project had limited reservations to a short window between July 9 and July 22 to allow for system testing. With those tests complete, the full summer camping calendar is now being offered.
Big deal for RVers
For RVers, this reopening is especially significant. RV-accessible campsites in Rocky Mountain National Park are always in high demand. Moraine Park Campground offers a central location with close access to the park’s iconic Bear Lake Road corridor.
Some sites at Moraine Park come with electrical hookups (20/30/50 amp). However, water and sewer hookups are not available. RVs and trailers (including tow vehicles) must fit within a combined length of 40 feet or less.
Reservations at Moraine Park also come with the added bonus of a Timed Entry Permit for Bear Lake Road, valid from 1 p.m. on the day of check-in through the duration of your stay. That saves you an extra step, since these permits are otherwise required during peak hours.
Boost your chances
If you’re hoping to grab one of these newly released reservations, don’t wait! Many of the best sites go fast.
To increase your chances, be sure your Recreation.gov account is active and ready before trying to book. Bookmark the campground’s listing to avoid delays navigating the site.
Even though reservations opened up a couple of days ago, there are still many sites available through September 9. Make a reservation here.

Thank you for the news, Gail! Always good when campsites are opened for use. Sadly, our overall length precludes us availing ourselves of this opportunity. Have a great day and safe travels!
