The April 8 solar eclipse has drawn plenty of attention. New York’s 335 eclipse view spots for RVers and other campers have sold out. But one New York KOA campground—which normally wouldn’t be open until May, is opening early to take advantage of viewers. They still have campsites available.
Family snags campground

In what may be an unusual turn of events, when Jaclyn Gingrich learned that the South Shores Campground in Sodus Point was for sale, she just knew her family had to buy it. They did, and now the family of five has what’s currently known as the KOA Campground in Sodus Point. The Lake Ontario campground is in the path of totality.
“When you look at it, it is just so absolutely beautiful. When the eclipse comes, it is going to come right over. It is just going to be this phenomenal view,” Jaclyn Gingrich related to Spectrum News1. Despite the chilly early-April weather, “The park will be open and we will be full and we will be right here.”
Eclipse view spots still available
At the time of publication, there were still a handful of eclipse view spots available at the Sodus Point campground. Click here to make reservations.
