An RV tech’s 7 tips to diagnose RV furnace vibration
By Andrew Herrick, The RV Engineer
‘Tis the season for hot chocolate, road salting, God-it’s-not-even-March-yet?, and RV furnace vibration. If your furnace sounds like a toddler throwing a tantrum inside of a toolbox, it’s time to peek under the proverbial hood. A noisy furnace is calling for help.
You might need a professional RV technician, like me, to fix the problem—or you might not! Many causes of a vibrating or shaking RV furnace can be solved with a little DIY sleuthing and basic hand tools.

What kind of battery, inverter, or generator do I need for a few nights “off grid” in camper?
Dear Dave,
I would like to know what kind of battery, inverter, or generator I would need for a few nights off grid in this little ham camper. I would like the option to power a 5000 A/C unit if needed. How is the best way to do that? Mostly just cell phones, lights, normal camp items. No microwave or coffee maker. Maybe a small heater if needed. What would make sense for a tiny camper? Thanks so much! —Tanya, 1967 Scotty Serro

The Barclay travel home—Unique, luxury living way off the grid
By Tony Barthel
Today’s RV review is of a 5-year-old fifth wheel. Sort of. It’s the Barclay RV, a custom-built, very unusual RV that has a lot of groundbreaking features and design aspects. And the one you get may not look much like the one in this review.
There are a lot of things that really make this unit unique, but the couple has gotten so many requests from people that they’ve decided to start selling them to you. Or maybe one of your friends.

How to get rid of and prevent black streaks on an RV
By Cheri Sicard
Have you ever noticed gray or black streaks coming down the sides of your RV? It’s a common problem, especially after a rain. In the video below, the team from The Camping Loop wanted to know the best way to get rid of black streaks on an RV, so they put three products to the test. The video also talks about how to prevent unsightly black streaks on an RV from happening in the future.
According to our host, the longer these streaks are left untreated, the harder they are to get off, so for best results, clean your RV as soon as you see black streaks starting.
Great expectations: Revisiting places that aren’t as you remember them
By Rod Andrew
My wife and I were fortunate to have two friends guide us on our first RV trip from British Columbia to Southern California. … We wandered through the Western states, as our friends introduced us to their favorite parks. Of all the places we visited, Joshua Tree National Park had the greatest impact. We’ve been back, of course, but remember, vividly, one part of our first visit, when we decided to hike from Cottonwood Campground to an oasis called Lost Palms. Continue reading this amusing tale.

Quick Tip
Safely store aerosol cans
After the cap came off one of my spray cans and emptied its contents into a storage bay, I decided to see if I could find a better way to store them. I found that the popular plastic bicycle water bottle cage works for most of my cans. Just mount the cage(s) to any appropriate surface, then stuff the otherwise-runaway aerosol cans in the cage. Our thanks to Jim A. for the “canny” idea.

Treat yourself to these tasty twice-baked potatoes this Valentine’s Day. This side dish only takes a few extra steps to transform a basic baked potato. The potato filling is creamy and cheesy. Sprinkling with bacon bits adds a pop of smoky flavor. Adding a heart-shaped red bell pepper on top is the perfect accent for Valentine’s Day.

Trivia
Google Images came about because millions of people were searching for photos of Jennifer Lopez’s dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards. Before then, Google Images did not exist! So many people searched Google for the green Versace dress Lopez wore to the award show that engineers realized a dedicated image search tool would better serve their customers. Thanks, J.Lo!

Also, Why do I have to put in all my information every time I leave a comment? Did I anger someone prior to this?
Bill did you check the box that says (save my data for for the next time I comment). That keeps your info.
I’m with BilI….. always check all three boxes, but a few days later, I have to re-check all the boxes again. I’ve asked this same question before and never did receive any answer and resigned myself that this is the way the system is set up and to just live with it. No big deal.

BTW, I have to turn off my VPN to post.
My VPN has several locations I can choose, John. One of those claims to be “optimized for streaming.” Using that location allows me to stream and post comments here. Perhaps yours does also. (I use AVG’s VPN.)
I tried one of those omelet pans and I hate to say it be careful of touching the pan while holding the handle. And you need to make sure that the pan is over the burner not off to the side otherwise it won’t cook right. Or if not cooked right will make a mess while cooking when you flip it. Nice idea but save your money for a real omelet pan or better yet? Go out for breakfast have a pro make you one.
I think this omelet maker is one for the microwave. I had one of these and it didn’t work well. I had to nuke for 30 seconds, stir, nuke for 30 seconds, stir, etc, etc, etc. Opening the door, getting the “pan” to counter level so I could stir it and then putting it back in the microwave again and again and again was a pain. The worst part was that the omelet didn’t taste good. I’d rather dirty a pan and make a good tasting omelet.
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 We need a pair of those pajamas for DW’s puppy Weagle. However, if he had to lie still in them in order to charge them, then they likely would never glow in the dark. 🙂 safe travels and have a great week! 🙂
Another way to store aerosol cans is to buy a piece of 3 inch pvc drain pipe. Cut it into 4-5 inch pieces and duct tape or glue them together. Makes a nice storage rack.
