Did you know this RVtravel.com newsletter is in its 23rd year (and our website has been around for even longer!)? You must really love us to have kept us around for that long (and we thank you so soooooo much for it!).
Before RVtravel.com, Chuck Woodbury published a newsletter called Out West. Many of you have been readers of his since those days when he developed photo film right out of his RV! Have you been around for that long?
Today we’re wondering how long you’ve been reading the RVtravel.com newsletter. We know we have quite a few newsletters these days, but our Sunday issue (the one you’re reading today!) is our “flagship” newsletter, so this is the one we’re asking about.
So tell us, are you a newbie here? Did you just discover us a few months ago? Or have you been reading for about a year or so? Five years? 10 years? More?!
No matter how long you’ve been here, we’re sure glad you’re here. The road ahead would be so boring without you!

Your query has a big jump from 10 to 23 years. I figure I have been reading for 17.
2-3 years. Like the information it provides and the sharing on experiences and comments. Great job guys you do one hell of a job.
Thank you for your very kind words, Skip. We appreciate them, and we appreciate YOU! Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
I honestly couldn’t tell you how long I have been reading this. To be honest, I don’t think it’s something worth figuring out.
I started reading this as soon as I found it. I was an new rv owner and a sponge for information. Still look forward to reading it but find that my “sponge” has heard, or read most of the info. Still a daily read
At least 3 years, but pretty sure not 5 years. I am a paid subscriber.
My spread sheet shows 49 months since your first comment Jim. LOL. Safe journeys.
Wow, I did not know you were tracking us….enjoy your thoughts posted on the site.
I’ve been reading rv travel for about 4 years. Sold my tt last month, but I still enjoy reading!
We’ve only had this motorhome since 2006, so I would have started reading RV Travel about then.
I discovered the website while traveling in March 2019 at the start of the pandemic. Found some useful info there which made my return trip much less stressful. But also realized the RV community was full of good people who knew the value of working together.
Just about the same time that I have been enjoying the content. Purchased Flagstaff tow behind in 2018 and had a lot to learn. Great source of information and humor, well worth the financial support that I have committed to give twice yearly
Thank you, RV Travel. I cannot recall when I subscribed or how I learned of RV Travel. It was ahead of the purchase of our first RV in 2016. Thanks again, have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Oh goodness I have been reading this for a longggggg time. I believe I first heard about about rvtravel reading Trailer Life. Shook Chucks hand in Q at least 10yrs ago. RV Doctor Gary Bunzer came and visited our gathering at Lake San Antonio and offered some advice. Ah the memories.
Even longer if you count reading “Out West the Newspaper that Roams”. Started reading that sometime in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s
I love this newsletter and have been reading it for more than 10 years. I am also a paid subscriber! I wonder what the percentage of readers would say they subscribed rather than just read/read your newsletter. Keep up the GREAT articles and sharing your knowledge. We RV’ers appreciate you!
2004ish, when we started thinking about full time. Went FT in 2006. Still enjoying it. Travel a lot, not squatters.
About 5 years. Stumbled on it during Covid, enjoyed the articles and that the writers would occasionally join in on the comment section with clarifications which struck me as being a very welcoming touch. No one hides. The daily news updates have been a great addition with Russ and Tina crushing it daily, along with others that occasionally show up in the news edition. Diane does a great job with the guardrails which I have purposely tested and yes, I have found the edge. They exist while allowing dialogue. No cussing, no threats, no off topic politics and yes, politics does exist in RVing, just observe the Elon story and the FCC. We are not a single homogeneous group.
I for one, liked your “over the edge” comments. Private forum though so have to stay in bounds.
Hi, Gary and Cancel. If it were up to me, being as lenient as I am, I would leave 99.9999% of the comments in here. But I don’t own RVtravel.com so I, too, have to go by the rules so that other readers aren’t upset by some of the comments. It hasn’t been too bad lately, but I expect it will get worse in the near future. Have a great day! 😀 –Diane
Thanks for your kind words, Cancel. Take care.🤗 –Diane
5 years but I’m sure it feels much longer for Chuck, Emily and Diane…LOL hahaha 😆 😂
(couldn’t resist Big Sis)
Wow! Has it only been 5 years, Cancel?🤣 Well, when I chewed you out a couple of times a few years ago, you did learn your lesson. For awhile you were getting pretty close to being blocked, but you’re doing good now. (Makes my job much easier. Thank you.👍) Have a great day!🤗 😀 –Diane aka Big Sister
LOL. Good to know one’s own brand. Like everything D, you can’t know where the edge actually is until you get to it…. or just beyond. I simply push back on the silly and virtuous, usually with sarcasm but always with facts. I noticed that people who think like me either didn’t exist as RVT readers or seldom commented. Turns out they do exist but mostly just stayed silent. The Govt promoted censorship on many platforms under the guise of “acceptable” speech and silenced far too many. I didnt chase many away because RVT readership is up based on available metrics.
It has been a great ride. I am glad you and I found a balance. I consider you a friend. ✌️😎
Thanks, Cancel.😊 That makes two of us. 🤗 –Diane
Sure feels longer to me..🙂
👍 You mean it’s not just me?🤣 Have a good night, Bill.🤗 –Diane
Nope, not just you.😆
Whew! Thanks, Bill.👍 Take care. 😀 –Diane
5 years only feels like 5 minutes….. under water.
With you on that Bill. ✌️🤣😅
👍👍😛
And used to read Out West. My father in law had a subscription.
I still have some of the books you used to sell to support your site, so I’m going to guess about 20 years or longer.
I look forward to it every day. Thanks to the whole team.
Not from the very beginning, but since around 2004, when we decided we wanted to go fulltime. Learned a lot as we planned for 5 years before cutting the cord & leaving our stick built to travel fulltime. Now, 15 years later, approaching 80, & still fulltiming, we still have so much we want to see & do.
