Would you sell your RV right now for a good price?

The world of RVing has been a whirlwind for the last couple of years, wouldn’t you agree?

The COVID-19 pandemic sent newbie RVers into a buying and camping frenzy (and for good reason!). Quickly after that, crowded campgrounds became a big issue. Then we started seeing the effects of the poor quality RVs that had been built during those years. The demand for RVs was higher than ever, but then…

Things seem a bit quieter these days. Has the big boom of RVing finally worn off, at least a little bit?

Maybe all that, though, these past four years, really turned you away from RVing. Maybe you’ve decided to hang up the keys for good. It’s expensive, and it’s exhausting having to reserve and plan so far in advance. We get it. We’re going through it, too.

So, if someone came along today and made you a generous offer to buy your RV, what would you do? Please leave a comment after you vote and explain your answer. We’re curious to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

Remember, it can take a few moments for the poll to load, so stand by.

Depends on what the “good price” is. If it’s enough for us to upgrade, and get a few more things we know we want, then sure! Otherwise, we have ours just about how we like it.

Will probably exit the RV world in the next 6-10 years as it is getting harder and harder to enter and exit the motor home to pack and un-pack. Driving so far is no issue and we don’t hike or bike, the Cricket SX-3 is our mode of transportation at the campgrounds.

Not yet. When I get to the point of none use like the boat I’ll sell but not interested in upgrade. It will be selling cause I’m done.

We would “Probably not” sell our 5th wheel only because we don’t have a replacement ready. Our plan is to replace it as soon as we have figured out what we want to replace it with and get that replacement. The replacement is very likely to be a park model – not really an RV in my mind, but more practical for the way we use the 5th wheel. We will still be RVer’s with the Class B that we purchased several years ago.

The brand new 2022 Ember Overland 170 mrb with the max solar package we bought less than a year ago has been an electrical nightmare, along with lots of other problems. I’m actually looking into pursuing the lemon law. So, yes, I would like Ember to buy it back from me, not anyone else.

Probably. But what would be a good price to me likely wouldn’t be a good price to you. We have made useful upgrades and mods to our two TT (big – seasonal stationary, little – rolling hotel room). We really like both rigs. I’d sell, but at this point, factor in what we have invested (not just material, but my labor) to do what the manufacturer could of, should of, done.

No, because it would cost way too much to replace it with anything that would interest us. If we were getting out of camping, it’d already be gone!

For my truck camper, yes for a great offer now or sometime in the next few years I will anyway. I see coming to a close on camping within 5 years.

Why not sell it?

It’s a lot easier to buy than to sell.

Upgrading, downgrading or leaving the RV lifestyle.

There is ALWAYS another trailer to buy!

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Probably not. We’d have to buy one to replace it relatively quickly and shake it down before heading to Alaska next summer. So, the offer would have to be fully cash-in-hand and well over what we paid to undertake all the work to ensure it is road-worthy for Alaska. Thanks again, have a great weekend, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Why would I want to sell my 2006 Monaco Dynasty that is in excellent shape for a piece of junk that is being built today. rotflmao

Been thinking about downgrading anyway, so probably yeah.

In a heartbeat! BUT we’ve had so many issues with our rig, only with full disclosure & honesty. Then, if they still wanted it, happy travels.

Nope! just bought a new Alliance TT two weeks ago!

We would sell in a Ny minute.
Get better prices when buying a motorhome with cash than using a trade-in.
That’s why I’d sell.

Gary W.

Yes. In fact, everything I own is “for sale”. For the “right” price of course.

Diane Mc

Nope. Only a few more years left to travel, God willing. 23 years old, no need to sell now. We love it and wouldn’t want any other motorhome anyway. It’s a jewel.

Never! My Born Free coach is built like a tank and they don’t make them anymore. When I quit, it goes to my granddaughter!

Not now, but next year when the new custom build is ready!

Yes, but I would sell only because we are looking to move from a fifth wheel to a class A.

We would sell the DP since considering a fifth wheel in our future.

No, I would not sell it. We bought a new Host Yukon triple slide truck camper in 2022 & travel in it pretty much full time. It has 950 watts of tiltable solar panels, 736AH of lithium battery, 3K watt inverter, 50 amp DC to DC battery charger, & huge water capacities. Everything in it began failing, breaking or leaking within weeks. In the first 18 months we had 76 different issues with the camper, some minor, many major equipment failures. I have spent several hundred hours fixing & replacing things, mostly under warranty. Now, with everything fixed & having added a number of extra features, we finally have a camper that we are thoroughly enjoying living & traveling in.

I’m in the same situation. We bought a Lance truck camper, new in 2022. Like you, lots of issues with it. We call it our “Covid camper “.

Yes, I would pretty quickly sell my Aliner Scout for a decent price because it is in good shape (or trade for a van). A trailer is too darned much work for this 63yo single female. 🙁

Bill Byerly

Nope. The dealer where we bought our new class A in 2019 still calls every few months wanting to buy it back at nearly the price we paid for it. We’ve never taken them up on their offer

Terrence

Probably not… as I’ve spent the last 2 years remedying the mostly minor headaches in our current TT. That said, now that we’re retired and camp much more frequently, we’ve decided a somewhat larger RV (30-ish foot 5th wheel) is in our future. Component and build quality on new RV’s remains a concern. For now, better the devil we know.

Only if I had a good replacement lined up. It is where we stay when we go to Rally or Agility trials with our dogs, and other spring through fall travel. It is also our “guest cottage” and our emergency shelter if we have to evacuate.

Vince S

Probably not. It’s kinda like asking me in the middle of a great dessert if I wanna sell my fork….

Hate to sell class C which has so much custom 600 watts solar and more batteries etc. But a smaller class B would be more comfortable in our older age and shorter trips these days.

Marsha

I indicated yes, I probably would. That is if I got a really decent price for it. My 7-year-old bunkhouse trailer certainly fit my needs at the time. But now that my grandkids are getting older, they are not as quick to join Grandma on her ventures. So, I have been thinking about a new one that would be a bit shorter, and more comfortable for ME.

The vague term “good price” makes this poll a lot less scientific than most polls. But, I said “yes” – it would probably have to be a ‘rediculously’ good price, though.

Denise Piper

No … I’m not done with it yet … so much left to explore in my Class A MH. Besides, it’s paid for, I really like my RV & I couldn’t justify the cost of a replacement.

Thomas

Sure, I would sell my RV for a good price but I don’t think a buyer would agree to meet my ‘good price’.

Roy Davis

We’ve put in a lot of things and money into getting our RV just right for us. We’ve also gotten all the bugs and issues worked out that even new RVs have. I wouldn’t sell it right now but maybe in a few years.

JOSEPH F Andrescavage

Yes I would sell my Super C for the right price. I’m 74 and my wife will not drive. We are giving some thought about traveling out of country

Bob W

I bought my old MH for next to nothing ten years ago. It’s never broke down and has always served me well. At 47 years old, it’s just plain worn out (as am I). If somebody made me a decent offer, I’d let them have the last few good years left in it. My next excursion will be monday to view the northern lights that have been forecast.

define good price… blue book or taking into account the 10k solar system worth much more than the tt.

Cheryl

That is our thing too. We know we will never get close to the actual value because of the added solar.

If it was about the money most of us wouldn’t be RV’ing! For me, as I write this at a Michigan SP on the banks of Lake Huron it’s the freedom and the outdoors.

During COVID, people were walking up to me at gas stations asking if my TT was for sale. Crazy.

Even if someone were to offer me an absurd amount of cash, just what would I replace it with? It took years for me to work the bugs out of the one I have. I’m not interested in a new adventure of whack-a-mole with the stuff coming out of the industry today.

Bob Wei

You are right. Got the bugs worked out finally. Do not want to do that again.

Which one. We have 3. A 2024 40′ Destination in the Adirondacks. A 2023 mini cargo camper (think hard sided tent with a kitchen, toilet, and room to transport 2 kayaks and 2 bikes). And our 30′ Bunk room TT we downsized to from our 40′ 5th wheel. If prices continue their steep increase in Florida, we’re planning on selling the 30- Bunk room TT.

With all the maintenance issues and trouble finding good service I would sell my RV for a good price. It has been very enjoyable traveling in it but too much to keep up with.
