From all the comments and emails we have received in recent years, we would have to conclude that RVers have what amounts to a love-hate relationship with Camping World.
Some RVers praise the service they received from the huge dealer, whether in buying an RV, shopping for parts and accessories in one of its huge stores, or having it serviced or repaired.
But many other RVers will be quick to tell you a different story, many advising staying away from the business at all costs because of poor or even terrible services or experiences.
In fact, Camping World has one of the worst scorecards at pissedconsumer.com with a rating of 1.8 out of 5. Reviewers at pissedconsumer.com gave Camping World’s repair department only 1.6 stars out of five.
So, what have been your experiences?

Need a “never” selection.
I came here just to see if anyone has invented any new bad words above and beyond the seven described by George Carlin to describe Camping World’s disservice department.
I’m still holding out hope for you all!
I’ve never used them, but a friend took his new trailer back to for a drain leak under the kitchen sink. Six weeks later he was told it was repaired. But all they did was ‘goop’ up the fitting with silicone. And it still leaked!
I helped him remove all the silicone to find out the conical washer was missing.
When I first bought a used (4-year-old)Class A from a dealer in Florida, not Camping World, I returned to WV and discovered that the floor was soft in the bedroom and it smelled like mold. I contacted the dealer, and they advised me to take it to the nearest dealership. That was Camping World in Canton, OH. They said they needed to replace the carpet and shore up the floor. They charged the other dealer $3600 to do this. Well, a year later, I discovered that all they did was put a piece of wood in the floor heating vent and never replaced the carpet. Nothing I can do about it. So they got away with shoddy work.
Never been to one. Reading RVT has taught me that Camping World is probably the last place to go.
How would you feel about Camping World’s service, when after telling them what is needed, making an appointment, driving 4 hours, and told, after they inspected the problem, to make another appointment because they have to order the part?
They almost lost a service rep. The manager was told he had 30 minutes to find and replace the “warranty” part. They did or they were going to reimburse me lost wages. I’m a consultant. I also hate people that lie to me.
15 years ago I found the RV I wanted at a franchised dealer of Camping World 1500 miles away. When I arrived, I found the latch on the fridge door was broken, a weld on the steps was broken and one other issue. Issues that could have been fixed for under $100. I was very disappointed. I did buy the RV and it turned out just fine.
I just took it for granted all the readers here knew it already- NEVER USE CAMPING WORLD. FOR ANYTHING! Reasons are in the comments right here.
Couldn’t answer because there wasn’t one for “wouldn’t use them”!
Our 2007 Everest had a broke frame, very good work but took a long time, lost a summer of camping with family. Coburg Oregon staff very good job.
I don’t know if it’s valid for me to rate them as I only used them once about 22 years ago to install a tow package on our Dodge Dakota to pull it behind our DP. While everything was installed correctly, the needed cutouts in the facia below the front bumper looked like they turned a 2 year old loose with a sawzall. It was horrendous. Never had any service done at CW again.
But then, I can count on one hand the times in 45 years I’ve taken an RV of any kind in for service vs just doing the work myself.
I took my new toad there to get it set up for towing. Since the work was completed, I’ve completely rewired the rearlights so they work consistently, double checked the hitch mount for proper torque, replaced the gasoline engine rated battery shut-off button with the correct diesel rated switch, and redone the front plug wiring. Other than that everything is great.
They make a backyard mechanic look professional. When they break more than they fix, it becomes, “avoid at all cost” to me. I can’t remember ever hearing one person say they did a good job.
As a last resort I had CW in Fort Worth install my baseplate and wiring hookup for flat tow on my F-150. I was surprised when everything worked correctly!
Took my 24′ Class C MH to Camping World for 4 items to be looked at. 1. Installed the extra light in the big storage space OK. 2. Installed a Tornado flusher in the black tank It leaked the first time I used it. 3. Reinstalled the electric cord 90 degrees from the direction I wanted it. 4. Said they could not find the rollers to fix my bathroom rolling door. Got the Tornado flusher and the electrical box fixed by my long time RV guy who had sold his business and finally started doing mobile work. Finally found the roller wheels myself and fixed the shower door. Will never use CW for repairs.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! I voted “below average.” As newbies, we patronized the Camping World in Chattanooga for the first several months that we owned our first RV. They were not fast, but they seemingly did the work correctly. However, they denied a warranty claim for a leaking hydraulic leveling jack. I questioned this, ultimately calling our manufacturer, which said it was a covered claim. Never went back. Have a great weekend and safe travels!
A year ago we had the panel around the drivers front tire of our 04 Fleetwood Flair blow off in Nebraska. We were on day 4 of a planned 60 day trip; bummer. On July 3 we stopped at the Camping World in Sioux Falls, SD about 11:00 am. They said they couldn’t straighten out the wrinkles in the metal but could reattach it using screws. We were fortunate that they had same day availability. By 4:00 pm the same day we picked up the completed project. It’s still holding and our one and only experience with Camping World service was exceptional.
‘I wouldn’t take my RV to CW for repairs’ is missing from the poll. That’s my vote,
We used Camping World 20 years ago for some service work. The work was performed properly. Think they had more caring people back in the early 2000s.
Mixed. The CW in Katy Texas treated me right and was excellent.
The CW in Richmond VA kept my “5 day fix” job for over two months, returned it with dead house batteries, blown Magnum inverter, can’t find the keys, and didn’t fix the issue it was in for. “Flunked” would be an understatement!
I had purchased our first pop up camper from a dealer that Camping world absorbed, went there for ice damage to the roof as an insurance claim and they did the work grudgingly. We found out the hard way that they did not reattach the electrical kill switch that shuts off electricity when the cover is down and our canvas was burned through with the overhead light while driving to a campground. Fortunately, it was just a hole about the size of the light bulb but they fought me on the claim that they did the work correctly. Threatened legal action due to the timing of the work done but they were reluctant to replace the canvas, just wanted to repair it. Pushed them and finally got new canvas,
We purchased a new tow dolly from them. We received no instructions on how to tie down the car’s front wheels to it, and it’s not intuitive. When we got it home, I checked the tires and noticed that only 1 lug nut was tight on each wheel with the other 8 lug nuts being only finger-tight.
We’ve had decades of great service at our local Camping World. And we’ve dropped in at different Camping Worlds when we’ve encountered problems on road trips. They fitted us into the schedule and got us back on the road in a reasonable time.
