As RVers, we’re always on the move. One minute we’re in Hollywood, the next we’re in Miami (with stops everywhere in between, of course). It’s not uncommon for RVers to see or meet celebrities. After all, they’re always traveling around and so are we!
Sometimes those encounters happen in the most unexpected places—a quiet campground in the middle of nowhere, a gas station on a long desert stretch, or even while waiting in line at a food truck near a music festival. Many stars enjoy the freedom of RV life, too!
Maybe you’ve crossed paths with a country singer heading to a show, an actor filming nearby, or even a YouTube personality who documents life on the road.
Some RVers have stories of chatting with musicians at campgrounds, spotting TV hosts in national parks, or realizing the person in the next campsite is a famous travel blogger.
Even if you haven’t met anyone famous, it’s fun to imagine who you might run into next time you’re on the road. After all, you really never know…

We winter in Texas Hill Country – which includes both Austin and San Antonio. There are a LOT of musicians within this region – studio and stage. If they travel, many seem to prefer RVs over hotels. And a few might be in the process of having a home built on a few acres. It is not unusual for folks in Texas to sell their old home and live in their RV in a RV park local to where their new home is being built. Essentially work campers of a sort.
Forget his name but a music producer who worked with Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and many others was next to us in a Nashville COE campground. He left Sunday morning to teach his Sunday School class and came back and gave us a couple of gospel cds he had produced. That was twenty years or more ago. I still play them.
We met Sam Butcher, artist and creator of Precious Moments figurines. We later got to know him and realized he was open and welcoming to everyone, even though he was an introvert by nature.
No and I hope I never do.

Yes I met Wheel Chair Warren on his trek on his wheel chair from Alberta Canada to Mazatlan Mexico (from July 1st – December 17th). I was camping next to him at a RV Park in Oklahoma. Here’s a couple videos of him being interviewed by the news.

We haven’t but several years ago a friend’s daughter was working in a state park in Texas over Christmas. An RVer contacted the office stating there was a problem with their water connection. When she went to check on it the RVer was none other than George Strait & his wife. After he found out she was working on Christmas Day & was away from her family he invited her to eat Christmas dinner with them! And she did!! She said that they were so nice.
The closest to a celeb. is none other than Nanci Dixon. While I didn’t “meet” her, she gave me directions on registering in a Ntnl park in north-central Mn several years ago now. (Before I had even heard of Rv Travel News). I was mistaken for a celeb. in a store in N Mn – the lady was so flustered she couldn’t remember the name who she tho’t I was. I suggested Richard Chamberlain – but she said no I wasn’t him! Also, many years ago – my wife and I rode an elevator up to our room in a Miami hotel with Frank Sinatra’s son. My wife was flustered…!

A few years ago Steve Harvey was at an FRVA (FMCA) Convention in Georgia shopping for new RVs. Lots of folks got pictures with him.
In a life several lives ago I used to do special event planning and met all sorts of celebrities and such. One of my favorite photos was Bobby Sherman “arresting” me. He volunteered in the Sheriff’s department and I had worked with him enough that we staged this fun picture.
I didn’t meet him, but former Miami Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese was in the same Tennessee campground that we were in. This was in the late 1980s.
While in Mitchell, South Dakota several years ago we visited the Corn Palace not really knowing what it was. We just wanted to see the corn murals. We went inside and found out Bill Engvall was performing that evening. Tickets were too expensive for us so we decided to leave but the cashier gave us half price tickets since we were from out of town. We even got to meet Bill and have our photo taken with him! Serendipitous
We met Bob Newhart at the last Good Sam national rally, and Stephanie Zimbalist at a wedding on the Queen Mary.
I had a 2,000 lb bull bison in my campsite at Theo Roosevelt NP. Does that count?

Saw, nodded and spoke to Art Linkletter at an airport departing gate. Saw George Kennedy riding up an escalator, while taping an American Express commercial, at the airport. Peter, Paul and Mary, backstage when in college. They all may have had their RVs in the parking lot, I don’t know.
Yes, Jay Leno, at the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn MI.
November 1977 we met Perry Como & John Wayne in Williamsburg, VA. while they were filming a Christmas special later aired on TV. Both were very gracious & extremely friendly.
