Oh, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to share a bathroom with your partner or travel companion? We can dream of a whole bathroom to ourselves! No knocking, no extra hair that’s not ours, no mystery products crowding the counter, no waiting your turn when you just want to brush your teeth and be done with it.
Think about what your dream RV would look like. Would it have one bathroom or more than one? Would it not have a bathroom at all? It’s not uncommon anymore for an RV to have more than one bathroom. So, hey, maybe your dream will come true with your next RV!
For some of you, one bathroom is perfectly fine. You’ve made it work for years, and it’s just part of the rhythm of RV life. A little coordination, a little patience, and maybe a “heads up” before someone jumps in the shower—and everything runs smoothly.
Others, though, have started to see the appeal of a second bathroom. Larger fifth wheels and motorhomes now offer half-baths, rear baths, or even dual full bathrooms in some models. That extra bathroom comes in handy for bigger families or when you host guests.
And then there are the trade-offs. More bathroom space usually means less room somewhere else—storage, living area, or kitchen space. RV design is always about balance, and what feels like a must-have to one person might feel unnecessary to another.
Of course, some of you may not care about the RV bathroom much at all. If you tend to stay in campgrounds with clean facilities, you might prefer using those instead, saving your onboard bathroom for quick stops or nighttime use only.

I chose an extra FULL bath. Providing that it had it’s own black dump tank. I hate macerator toilets and the multitude of problems that come with them.
Generally, we have been just fine with a single bath, but there are those times, after a long drive back from sightseeing when we both need a bathroom IMMEDIATELY. That’s when the additional bath would be a godsend!
Think outside the box. A gentleman would take an empty milk or water jug and cut a hole in the top and use it while his lady fair was sitting on her throne
Or just use the campground facilities.
Definitely not. I don’t have the extra space and my 17 ft LilSnoozy is my perfect RV The only change I would make in it would be to have drawer locks on all the drawers so they wouldn’t fly opem & dump their contents all over the floor when traveling
one is fine. Would I like a 2nd toilet? Sure. But NO RV is bigger than 400 sq ft in living space (balconies and vertically short lofts don’t count). And that 2nd toilet is going to use space that I would rather use for something else.
The bath and a half were mandatory by my wife.
She was right.
The half bath is fully accessible while we are on the road (slides closed).
I chose an extra half bath for my dream RV, but I know I will not find that in a 32′ or smaller RV. I don’t want anything bigger unless it is stationary, and I don’t see that it my future.

When we downsized our 43′ Mountain Aire to a 36′ New Aire a year ago we knew one of the things we would miss was having a bath & 1/2. But, everything has pros and cons.
I can remember before the MA we questioned why anyone would want or need more than 1 bath. We found having the half was really nice…getting ready in the morning, when both had an urgent need to go, etc. We do miss it, but it’s not a crisis.
Rather than any second bath, I’d just prefer a larger shower in the one we have!
I couldn’t imagine why anyone would need a half bath in an RV. Then we got one, and boy is it nice to have! I couldn’t imagine why anyone would need slide outs in an RV, then we got one and had enough room for two people to move around at the same time. I couldn’t imagine why anyone would need … air conditioning, a generator, a television, a dishwasher, gps, tpms, the list goes on and on.
Actually, my present fifth wheel has one full and one 1/2 bath.
One bathroom is enough for us. If one of us needs to use the bathroom that is occupied, you can go to the campground bathroom.
Dumping and cleaning one bathroom is enough for me.
