Have you participated in a Zoom video meeting within the last six months?

Ah, Zoom… a website we hardly knew about before 2020. Now we’re having Zoom work meetings, Zoom family game nights, Zoom baby showers and even Zoom weddings. What a world!

Within the last six months, have you participated in at least one Zoom video meeting? If so, was it for professional reasons or personal reasons?

Every week we have our RVtravel.com staff meeting via Zoom. It’s not the same as our old meetings used to be, where we met at a community center inside a bookstore, but hey… it does the job!

Yes every Sunday for church

Don’t even know anyone who uses it or what it is even for. Telephone and E-Mail work just fine for me and our family.

Same here. I can’t even get into social media. My wife does Facebook, but it’s not for me. She occasionally shows me something I should see, like a friend’s grand baby packing her diaper Whoopee. What a sheltered life I lead.

Going to Zoom into a Court hearing this morning being held to determine whether hundreds of dogs and horses should be forfeited from a puppy mill operator. Have also Zoomed with family the past year. Only problem is poor bandwidth as we only have DSL and signal can stutter a lot.

I have had to “Zoom” some of my doctor appointments in the past few months. I don’t like it one bit! Nothing beats one on one meetings. I know, I know, it’s because of COVID safety. Don’t get me started.

Tommy, every time I see your name I think of that e Santa Clause 3 movie and the tooth fairy who wants to be called the molinator. Cute movie. Just saying.

There are many platforms and they all work well for family communications and they are all free. Zoom, Google Meet, FaceBook Video Chat, Whatsapp, Teams, and you don’t need to download the platform if you are not the initiator of the call. So your kids can send you a link and a time and you just click. Some require an app download if used on a cell phone. It’s fun and very useful during these times of “stay at home”.

We use Zoom and other platforms to keep in touch with family in several states. My wife also conducts a Bible study each week and attends a book group using Zoom.

I’m a volunteer puppy raiser for a guide dog school. Since the pandemic began most of the training instructions have been provided in Zoom meetings until it’s safe to meet regularly in person again. My husband’s VFW post also continues to meet on Zoom.

We have Zoom church each Sunday and Bible study on Wednesday. Not as good as seeing everyone in person but it works for now.

Because of the virus, our pastor holds our weekly Bible studies each Wednesday evening via Zoom. Once you get used to it, it’s pretty good.

The question should have asked if you participated in a video meeting in the last 6 months. There are many other video meeting applications in addition to Zoom. Examples include LogMein’s “Go-to-Meeting” and Microsoft’s “Teams” and many other lesser known applications. Many offer free versions as well as more featured packed fee based versions.

Thinks Zoom may become “kleenex” for any tissue, “google” for any search, etc.

Yes, for personal use. I belong to 2 organizations that have held member meetings on zoom.

A guy with whom I used to run put together a Zoom reunion of our lunchtime running group in May of last year. Aside from that, I have never used Zoom, but I do have the android application on my phone. Perhaps we will Zoom again in 2021. If not, then I’ll delete the application.

Wow! This is a real shocker to me. I’d have guessed it would be 98% YES. We’re both relatively old fuds (mid-70’s) but both of us are on Zoom at least a few times a week, between the kids and grands, friends for Zoom Happy Hours and meetings of my Rotary Club and her Book Club. If you’re among the “no” folks – find a way to get on Zoom right away. In our plague-limited world, this is a mental life saver!

I’ll pass. Numerous issues with inappropriate content popping up, when children were doing school Zoom’s. May have fixed it, but not impressed it was even a possibility. I see my grandchildren in person so don’t need to Zoom. We can do FT on ipad when traveling. Although….92 yr old Mom fell before Christmas, fracturing hip, breaking wrist. Now in a skilled nursing facility for rehab. They use Zoom & FT to communicate. Assuming doctor, when he calls (she arrived late Thursday from hospital) to give evaluation may use Zoom if my other sibs want to be on call. I will do for that, but delete afterwards. My grandchildren 6 to 12, who have to use for school, hate it. Understand it has it’s purpose, but fortunately we can survive without it. Oh..worked in hi tech for 30 yrs. We have 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, mine a 11 Pro Max. I frequently give tips to our adult kids.

There are other video chat platforms out there. I have never liked zoom, and stopped following the RV bloggers that used it, long before 2020. On a side note, zoom was spiraling into a slow death before covid was in our vocabulary.

I’m still working at age 70 and attend 2-3 Zoom meetings per week. I’ve also used Zoom or Messenger video for phone calls with my brother and a friend, both living in other states.

Zoom is a Communist China company that downloads ALL Zoom conversations and forwards them to the CCP army. If your a company discussing new products or innovations China is harvesting and stealing all your information to use. This is verifiable with a quick search on the internet.

Oy Vey….

If you don’t want to support the Chinese Communist Party, stop shopping at Walmart (the company that made China rich and gutted middle-class America). Stop buying Chinese made electronics (there has been lots of examples of backdoors built into Chinese ROM chips that the CCP can get into) and contact your legislators to demand protections for Unions and Family wage jobs.

America has ‘low priced’ itself into this position. Zoom is the least of our issues, despite what Tucker Carlson might lead you to believe.

You just had to throw Tucker Carlson into the conversation, didn’t you? But since you brought it up, I would believe anything Tucker Carlson says any day, over anything that was said by “anyone” on CNN!

If you’re going to make such a claim post the link of evidence for those to follow. I find nothing to which you speak.

My Masonic Lodge meets in Philadelphia at the main Temple. The City of Philadelphia has closed all interior meeting spaces and museums. Since our temple is considered to be a museum, it has been closed since February. Our lodge started to have zoom meetings every Thursday evening fir the purpose of seating guest speakers as well as for friendship and socializing. It has been a terrific way to stay in touch, no business of the lodge and no degree work occurs. As far as we know, we are the only lodge in Pennsylvania that does this. Great way to stay in touch.

Since our family was isolating during this pandemic, we use zoom for get-togethers like Thanksgiving and Xmas….or just when we are missing each other. Not quite the same, but better than just a voice coming out of a speaker.

Use Teams at work, Zoom for County and Legislative District meetings and Discord for gaming and two clubs I’m involved in. We finally got the video phones we were promised in ‘The Jetsons’, but not the way we expected.

Zoom and Teams for work. Like teams for meeting. Seems a lot have worry about being bugged. Everyone’s electronical devise (phone, iPad’s, computer, tablets, etc.) can be tapped rather foreign or domestic. Maintain your security soft ware and leave no apps open and shut your device off when not in use. You’ll be notified when you start up again and log in. Be safe and vigilant.

If I can talk to someone on the phone, why do I need to be distracted by looking at their face or something in the background? I do not understand it at all. It has upset my doctor that I do not have a smart phone. I’m not looking for a smart phone, I’m looking for another doctor.

Estep

No But it was only because I could not get the link to open. Hooked up by cell phone so I was involved in the meeting without Zooming.

We have a regular monthly Zoom meeting with our kids & grandkids, as we travel, or are sitting here in the Southwest desert. Whoever is free to join at that time jumps in & we have a free wheeling conversation for an hour or so. Not everyone can join each time, but it’s good to see whoever does show up.

Daily Catholic Mass is live streamed from our Parish. Had our Annual Family Camping Reunion on Zoom and Facebook last Summer. Also Church meetings and other groups.
This weekend we played a 5 Crowns card game with our daughter & son in law in Salem, OR from our home in Bellevue, WA. Often with a disabled baby great granddaughter in Oregon who recognizes Helen’s voice and looks around trying to find her.
We are now Zoom fans.

We use Zoom for our State Good Sam meetings as we can’t be face-to-face right now with the Covid-19 virus. At least we can make plans in case we can hold our State Samboree. It can also be cancelled if not enough vaccinations yet or there are many deciding to not get the vaccinations.
