You’re either a Dunkin’ fan or a Starbucks fan. Is there an in-between? And, okay, yes, we know some of you couldn’t care less. Some of you don’t even drink coffee! But if you do, and if you travel often where both places are abundant, you most likely have a favorite.

Do you prefer your coffee from Dunkin’ or Starbucks? What’s your drink of choice? After you vote in the poll, please leave a comment and tell us your coffee order. We’re curious!

You need another line saying that don’t go to either place

Agreed, Both are way too expensive. I like my campfire coffee more especially when camping. At home, I brew a pretty good cup of coffee.

I have a different viewpoint. The question specifically asks about preference for Dunkin’ or Starbucks. It doesn’t ask if anyone prefers something else or doesn’t drink coffee. As I see it, there should only be two answers. If you want multiple answers, the question should be something like “What is your preferred coffee retailer” and there still is no reason for an answer “I don’t drink coffee.” The poll is clearly clearly aimed at coffee drinkers. What I am saying is if the poll question asked “Men, do you prefer wearing tightly whites or boxer underwear?” should women respond to the question just so they can participate in a poll about a piece of clothing that they (generally or for the most part) do not wear?

Same response as above. I was relaxed when I posted my comment. All I was stating was that some people feel they have to comment on everything even if the question at hand is not something in which they are involved.

I make my own coffee. I refuse to pay the prices.

I seldom buy coffee- except with a meal- therefore I don’t visit either. When I occasionally buy coffee when traveling I find much better value for black coffee at convenience stores when I purchase gas.

Never ever Starbucks ever.

When out, I prefer McDonald’s. Their McCafe blend works for me. Senior price is much nicer to my budget.

McDonalds or Cumberland Farms. Cheaper and you make it the way you want. But whenever possible, in my RV.

I don’t understand the popularity of Starbucks, the coffee tastes burnt to me, even the blond. When people wanted to meet at Starbucks I would try to suggest another place but that’s a not an option for many. If I do end up in Starbucks I order a bottle of water or occasionally ice tea.

We don’t waste our money at either place.

Before I became a diabetic I loved Dunkin, but since I can’t have sugar anymore coffee don’t taste as good. Before becoming a diabetic I couldn’t stand McDonalds coffee, now I like it better than Dunkin. Starbucks is to strong and expensive.

Can’t remember the last time we bought coffee at Dunkin’ or Starbucks. When travelling we sometimes will purchase a coffee at a Shell or BP while filling up – only after we’ve finished our home brewed coffee. Every day we are in our S&B or RV we brew our own fresh ground blend. We have our own preferred creamers that are absent artificial sweeteners and (beaver gland squeezin) artificial vanilla flavoring. And no “coffee substance” filled, plastic containers that end up filling the landfills.

Brewed coffee in an old fashion coffee brewing machine. The real thing, in real coffee cups or mugs.

I would choose Dunkin over Starbucks every time. It tastes better and is a little cheaper. Starbucks is way over priced and doesn’t taste good.

Joe Allen

You need a slot on there that says neither!

As a loyal Canadian, I have to say Tim Horton’s. For all Americans who get a chance to travel to Canada, give it a try! The service usually sucks as all locations are generally understaffed, but the coffee is still awesome! McDonald’s a close second.

We were introduced to Tim Horton coffee severs years ago. Love it. We don’t support Starbucks. Occasionally visit Dunkin Donuts. Mostly brew our own coffee.

I make our coffee at home, or in the camper if we’re on a trip. VERY rarely I or we might stop at a convenience store for a cup if on the road. Never been to a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for coffee. Well, we’re pretty rural, nothing close by so we don’t get tempted in the least.

Wayne

I can’t justify the outlandish prices of either. Plus, you’re tempted to buy an overpriced sweet something. I’m a one cup a day coffee drinker so my at home or travel trailer dark roast satisfies me.

The first time I was in a Starbucks, I asked for a small coffee. The young man at the counter asked what type. I said black. He pointed to the board and said this is what we have. It took 15 minutes to get thru to him that I wanted plain coffee. He handed me a small cup and said $5. I said keep it. I have boycotted Starbucks since 2000.

Dunkin Donuts seems to have moved out of the Northwest. We brew our coffee or tea at home 95% of the time. Occasionally we of the high priced coffee shops.

I don’t really like either of them. Caribou Coffee was my favorite, but they retrenched to the upper midwest. I do order coffee beans from them now and then; I get a couple pounds of their Raindeer Blood for my son every Christmas.

David Stansbury

I said something else. Because I love the coffee at Starbuck’s. But I won’t go there because of their attitude and corporate politics. And we don’t have a Dunkin Donuts within a hundred miles.

In my opinion, the Starbucks corporation and their little barista’s are anti-police. Trying their coffee many years ago I just did not care for it. We prefer to brew our coffee at home. But when we are traveling and want a break, we enjoy a stop at Dunkin’ Donuts or any donut shop and also Tim Horton’s. 🍩☕️

I have plenty of friends who work for Starbucks – they aren’t ‘anti-police’. The staff, like every sane person in the US, is against unchecked police powers, and a militarized police that shoot-first, and get their backsides covered later. Hope you enjoyed this ‘cup of perspective’.

Unfortunately, I spent 10 years in Napoli. That ruined commercial coffee for me. I buy fresh roasted grind myself and brew with with a very basic Il Pavoni in the RV. Few US coffee bars can match it, but when they do, I’ll pay up and toast their efforts! Starbucks and Dunkin’, I’m walking by.

Spike

I can’t even stand the smell of Starbucks, so no way I’d spend way too much to try to drink a cup of it.

Kwik Trip/Star is a large fuel/convenience chain in the upper midwest and for under a buck you can get a good cup of coffee. Even at that, we rarely buy coffee and just brew our own.

Bob

You didn’t allow for never having been to one of them … I’ve never been to a Dunkin Donuts, so I can’t compare. That’s rural life for you (and most Starbucks visits were inside the grocery store).

For my taste Starbucks Coffee is bitter. We used Dunkin’ decaf occasionally, but generally do not purchase coffee at coffee kiosks or shops. I can’t justify the cost of a cup of specialty coffees.

35-year career in public safety radio comms and not one cup of coffee or one cigarette. i don’t drink alcohol either. i was asked to make a pot of coffee for a meeting one day. having never done that i wasn’t sure how much coffee to use (this was well before pre-measured packs) but…how hard could this possibly be. so, there were eight at the meeting and i reasoned one scoop of coffee per person. right? lol. i was never asked to make the coffee again.

Why pay those high prices for a cup of coffee when I can brew my own.

John Koenig

Starbucks offers a good, full bodied cup~a~joe BUT, in my opinion, is far too expensive. My favorite coffee is a fresh pot at 7~Eleven (I’ll even brew a fresh pot myself if possible). Places like Circle~K, many truck stops etc offer good coffee when freshly brewed in a clean pot (many stores fail to wash pots / carafes between fills which often is the cause for coffee that tastes “burned”). Dunkin Donuts coffee I can take or leave.

I’ve been a Starbuck’s fan since living in Seattle back in the ’80s. And because I’ve traveled solo back and forth across the country many times, I can almost always find a comfortable Starbucks anywhere I visit. It is a familiar taste in a familiar place.

I have never cared for Starbucks coffee. I call it “burnt” coffee. I actually enjoy McDonald’s coffee over either Starbucks or Dunkin. Ironically, I like Seattle’s best more than Starbucks even though they’re a subsidiary of Starbucks.

I don’t really like getting coffee “out”! When I do it is Andy’s Kitchen in Corpus Christi, Texas (just ask anybody – we ALL know where Andy’s is)! I actually prefer my own coffee, made in my own coffee pot!
