Do you like peanut butter?

Since today is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day we have peanut butter on our minds…

Do you like peanut butter? Do you LOVE peanut butter? Do you find it just okay? Do you hate it? Have you never tried it (whaaaaat!)? After you vote, please leave a comment.

Here are some fun facts about peanut butter according to the National Peanut Board:

  • Crafting a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter requires approximately 540 peanuts.
  • In the United States, any item labeled as “peanut butter” must contain a minimum of 90 percent peanuts, according to regulations.
  • The production of 1 ounce of peanuts necessitates 3.2 gallons of water, whereas 1 ounce of almonds requires a substantial 28.7 gallons.
  • Residents of the East Coast tend to favor smooth peanut butter, whereas individuals residing on the West Coast lean towards the crunchy variety.
  • The average adult eats a PB&J three times a month.

Lastly, if you’re celebrating National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day because you ARE a peanut butter lover… these are for you. Trust us.

Read the labels. I avoid added sweeteners, hydrogenated or any other tampering or additions to my peanut butter. For that reason I avoid Skippy and other name brands. Generic brands are more often apt to have 100% peanuts. When hydrogenated the oil doesn’t separate and rise to the top but it does separate with plain peanut butter. To avoid oil separation, keep in the refrigerator.

I don’t read the labels. I taste the product and buy it again if I like it. Life is too short to worry about the nutritional aspect of something like peanut butter, which I love. I don’t shop at health food stores or eat rice cakes or kale chips either.

I agree Gary. Most peanut butters are not healthy and you know peanuts are not a nut, they are legumes. But if you have to have peanut butter, I’ve found Trader Joes brand to be one of the best…just peanuts and salt.

Know how u feel. I’m badly allergic to chocolate. Have you met with people trying to sneak it into your food to “prove” you’re not allergic?

I like peanut butter but I don’t love peanut butter. Best advice I ever received was never love anything that can’t love you back.

We usually have a piece of toast with pb each morning with our coffee that tides us over until lunch.

8 or 10 Ritz cracker with Jif and a glass of milk for a late evening snack.
Sometimes with a little jelly added. Keeps my stomach from growling during the night.

This is gonna sound weird, but, if you have left over corn-on-the-cob the next morning, after overnighting in the fridge, spread peanut butter on it and enjoy. Sounds strange but it is delicious. For some reason the two tastes compliment each other.

I like peanut butter. My wife would eat it every day. She even purchased a bottle of peanut butter whiskey (known as Screwball).

Peanut butter is okay, preferably the crunchy version. Alternately, DW has a much greater fondness for peanut butter than I have. However, she is ONLY fond of Jiff smooth peanut butter; no others need apply. And it must be the second-smallest-size jar. Otherwise the peanut butter gets stale before she empties the jar. Safe travels! 🙂

We love PBJ sandwiches. They are a very easy to take along on a hike or fishing trip. We like
Jiffy and strawberry jam. BTW if you haven’t added a scoop of peanut butter to a pot of chili, you are missing out.

Don’t see the poll. I like pb and I always put regular butter on the other slice of bread. It makes the pb taste sweeter and richer.

Without peanut butter I’m pretty sure I would not have had any lunch for the first 12 years of my life….PB is the elixir of life I always say 😉

I was going to edit my comment (but for some reason it won’t let me) to add that my dogs eat more PB out of the jar than I do. Often when I have to leave them behind I’ll fill hoofs (or is it hooves?) with PB and leave them around the house/rv to snack on.

Peanut butter and sweet pickle sandwich, absolutely love them, ate them since kindergarten. PBJ aren’t too bad either.

Read the ingredients in peanut butter and you will be amazed. We have switched to almond butter, as it has omega -3 instead of the poor quality oils associated with peanut butter and the manufacture hasn’t added more bad fats to it. We are attempting to live til we die.

It doesn’t matter what you eat or do. When your number is up it’s up.

Really like PB. If I get depressed I’ll sit down and eat it straight from the jar. One spoonful at a time until the depression leaves. (I call it PB therapy myself.)
I also like the following sandwiches: PB and Jelly, along with a variation of the PBJ with butter (very smooth). PB and gherkin sweet pickles. Doesn’t matter what brand or if it is smooth or chunky. Although I tend to lean toward the chunky.
I’ve read somewhere that some peanut butters contain a certain chemical preservative that is harmful to pets. i can’t remember the exact name. If feeding you pets PB, you may want to check with a vet.

I like to mix honey with crunchy peanut butter and spread it on toast. It’s a perfect breakfast item.

I can/will occasionally eat a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, but since as a child having inch-thick peanut butter sandwiches (made by my older sister so there wouldn’t be enough left for her), I don’t even like peanut butter cookies.

I will eat a peanut butter sandwich if it has sliced Kosher dill pickles on it.

You are SO right!
I toasted my bread- had chunky PB and baby dill slices called elites!
Took that in my lunch daily with fruit and raw vege slices.
On the road all day- so easy to eat when driving!!
The best!!!:)

1 time I told a coworker that DH added PB to his shingle before adding the cream chip beef She said That’s grounds for divorce.
My X wouldn’t allow pnut butter at all He told me that while he was in the Army a guy tried for discharge on a Section 8 when the inspecting officer reached the latrine this guy was sitting on a toilet with a palmfull of PB. While the officer was looking at him he took a big lick of He got his section 8 and X banned it forever. Sometimes I make cream cheese & jelly stead of PBJ
