Have you ever attended Burning Man?

Burning Man is a… actually, we’re not entirely sure. We know Burning Man has a lot of art, music, RVs… But we’ll let the website explain itself: “Burning Man is a global ecosystem of artists, makers, and community organizers who co-create art, events, and local initiatives around the world. Most recognizably, tens of thousands of Burners gather annually to build Black Rock City, a participative temporary metropolis in the Nevada desert.”

In 2023, 70,000 people attended Burning Man (though it was quite the experience for those this past year with that crazy flooding!). Were you one of them? If you have attended Burning Man, have you done so more than once or just one time? Would you ever go back?

After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us about your experiences attending. We’re so curious…

Why?

Never. It would be like Hell on earth for us mountain, lush green forests, waterfall, grassy fields……..campers

We have friends who attended the first few years it was moved from San Francisco to Nevada. They quit going because they thought the whole event lost its way and got way too commercial.

There is a reason we prefer to go to places on weekdays or and often and during off-season.

Bunch of mostly California Hollywood wannabe snowflakes trying to act like the hippies they never were. What a big frickin’ clusterf*ck.

I guess this means you went there to find out who goes to burning man, you don’t seem like the type to judge on hear say. 🤔

I went many moons ago before it became so commercialized, crowded, oh yea, & expensive. You couldn’t pay me to go now.
But still go to the area-especially to Planet X for pottery.

NO and have absolutely no desire to ever go!!!

My husband has gone twice, working there as a first responder. I have no interest in going.

We attended a regional Burning Man in Joshua Tree CA in 2017.

My daughter used to go about 20 years ago when it hadn’t turned so commercial and as expensive as it is now. It’s really changed from what it used to be. A few years ago, while we were parked in a cg in Portland, we witnessed 3 couples in a campsite across from us cleaning out their motorhome – every inch of it, inside and out. Washing everything! We tried guessing why, thinking that maybe they had been at the beach and were trying to get the sand out? Pretty soon our curiosity got the better of us and we offered to help. Turned out they had been to Burning Man and needed to get all that dust out before they stored it for the winter! That kind of dust out there will destroy everything!

On TV it looks like Hell on Earth, quite literally, so no.

We did attend the very first Stage Coach though and it was terrific.

Burning Man? Oh, hell, no.

After you’ve done 1 BM (I’ve gone 10 times), the likelihood is that you’ll go again because it’s such a unique experience. You also learn NOT to panic because of a little rain, hot weather, and lots of dust.

I was going to spell it out because my brain went the wrong place, also, Terry. But I decided to leave it “as is,” just for kicks. 😀 –Diane

Hi, J B. There is one. It’s the Burning Woman Festival, July 19-21, 2024, at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, U.K. The website states: “A 3 day 3 night Empowerment Festival for Women.” Have a good afternoon. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

This is too funny. Ask a smart question and get a smarter answer. I get caught in that occasionally.

👍 J B’s question just made me wonder, so I had to look it up. What in the world did we do before Google?🤔 Take care. 😀 –Diane

Well, for me, I sat on the floor in front of the Encyclopedia, looking thru all umpteen volumes.

True. We didn’t have a set of encyclopedias, so when my sisters and I went to visit the neighbors I’d read theirs (yes, sitting on the floor in front of the built-in bookshelves). And for reports for school, we’d go to the library. Just think! Now A.I. can write students’ reports for them. Yikes! Pretty soon people’s brains will turn to mush because they don’t have to use them to think anymore (and A.I. will take over the world).🤯 Take care, Kelly. 😀 –Diane

no fear of that for you , Diane…you seem to have endless resources to answer even the most obscure questions. Keep up the great work. Always admire the wit in some of the more ridiculous questions that you take on……

Thank you very much, Kelly. Yes, be sure to keep mushing on.👍 (Your brain is doing just fine, BTW.) And, regarding your previous comment about your “old body not cooperating as of late” — just keep moving as much as you can for as long as you can. I’m right there with you. Take care.🤗 –Diane

Wow! There are lots of meanings for “mush.” I had no idea! I’ll stick with “friend.” But what usually comes to mind is, “Mush, Husky!” (Or, “Hush, Musky!”–depending on how tired and/or silly I am.) Have a good evening, Kelly. 😀 –Diane

That’s true, Terry. When I was a kid I’d read the dictionary if I didn’t have anything else to read. Maybe that’s why I love what I do here at RVtravel.com.🤔 Take care. 😀 –Diane

Burning Man isn’t an event, it is a temporary city. Burning Man is nothing more or less than what individual participants create for and with the community. Burning Man is unique in that the organization only provides infrastructure. Burning Man begins with a completely blank desert canvas, evolves to the largest collaborative art project on the planet, and ends in ashes.

I would be willing to consult with your travel organization about ways to make Burning Man accessible to your audience.

My husband and I attended a few years ago, both of us in our 60s, and we loved it! Fantastic art, beautiful setting, wonderful people. At night, it’s magical. We hope to make it back one of these years.

My belief is that Burning Man is for those who were too young for the Summer of Love and the Hippie era. Have no desire to go, I am a Floridian and am so over heat (and summer has barely started)
