What are you eating today for the 4th?

It’s the 4th of July! And you know what that means? Food! Really, really good food! Most Americans eat hamburgers and hot dogs on the 4th, but grilled meats and veggies, potato and mac salad, corn on the cob, are always popular, too.

What will it be for you today? A cheeseburger? A hot dog? Some pasta salad and baked beans? Some corn and ice cream? Or perhaps you’re not doing anything special for the 4th today and you’re just eating your regular meal (come on, not even a hot dog?!).

You can vote multiple times in this poll, so select all answers that apply. And when you’re finished voting, please leave a comment and tell us what you’re having today. Make us hungry!

Traeger Mesquite smoked and grilled burgers are the main dish. Blue Bell ice cream for dessert later!

One of our horsey friends(In Missouri) showed us the virtue of using a tortilla instead of buns when hot dogging. Lots of condiments, chili, etc. wrapped up, and NOT dripping down your front. Think of him every bite. RIP Mikie.

Just another day for us, Thursday is traditional pizza night in our house. I may do a shrimp and pasta dish instead.

Deep fried, thin cut, pork tenderloin sandwiches (brought to the mountains from our mid west roots). This is our Independence Day treat.

Last day of a month long trip to Oregon. We’re in Phoenix, Or. Yesterday we explored the area and in the small town of Shady Cove, there was a road side BBQ tent setup. We stopped for lunch (tri-tip sandwiches by the Rogue River) and decided since today was the last day of our trip we would purchase a rack of BBQed baby back ribs. To complete the meal, we’re having potato salad, fruit salad, and a surprise dessert – supplied by the couple we’re traveling with. Happy 4th to all!

Since I now have to cook for myself, (my wife virtually quit eating last Jan., lives on Ensure and Sunny D and a cookie!), I am not a chef but I can boil water – so I will probably have a couple hot dogs with maybe some frozen french fries and a glass of milk and two or three beers. Wish I could make potato salad. Also, I am going to try that tortilla wrapped hot dog some day! (Thanks Richard – below!).

I am cooking Black Angus burgers and bacon on the Blackstone® and the wife has made potato salad and Boston baked beans to go along with that. Our neighbor gave us a watermelon. He bought 3 of them for $5.

Fresh Sockeye Salmon on the grill, corn on the cob, steamers, then topped off with too much Tillamook ice cream. 😋

Yum!!! That sounds delicious, Peter. But I don’t think there’s such a thing as “too much Tillamook ice cream”! Reminds me of when I took my sons down the Pacific Coast and we stopped in Tillamook and took the (self-guided) tour of the plant. We got out the other side of the plant and found ourselves in the gift shop (of course). My younger son (maybe 6 at the time?) asked, “When does the tour start?” 🤣 Now he’s my 44-year-old, 6’8″ tall, Marine combat veteran (who was in the second tank into Iraq). Thankfully, he made it home fine and now owns the house next to mine.😊 Have a good rest-of-the-Fourth, and have some Tillamook for me, please. (Any flavor works.👍) 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
