Can you believe it’s already November 11th? For some of you, that date means you’re getting ready to head south for all of, or some of, the winter. Is that you? Maybe you’ve already begun your journey! Or, maybe you stay south year-round!
As the days grow shorter and the chill sets in, many RVers are dusting off their rigs, packing up their gear, and planning for warmer adventures ahead. The allure of sunny skies and mild temperatures draws thousands of travelers southward, making this time of year particularly exciting for those of us with a passion for the open road.
So, will you go south in your RV this winter for at least two months? More than that? Less than that? If yes, will you share with us where you’re going? We’re curious to hear! The journey itself can be just as enjoyable as the destination.

Our “stick n bricks” home is in Florida. It’s funny how family think that the holidays are the time to go to Florida. We are reverse snowbirds: we travel northward to play in the summer and sorta stay home in the cooler months (even if it is already 80 before 8:00am). We tell friends we do not winterize our rv; we “summerize” it😁
Motor Home is in the Barn for the winter. Wife will not go away from home for more than three weeks and I will not even attempt to drive it in the snow.
I can relate, Ed. We’ve spent the weekend in the Bay Area meeting our new granddaughter, but in a short short we’re headed back home. That means going over Donner Summit (7,000+ feet!), and the prediction is for mixed rain and . . .
After 25 years chaining up big rigs, I’m done with that stuff. DONE!
We went over Donner in June to grandkid’s high school graduation…bumper to bumper for 20 miles due to some kind of road construction…never again…go through Weed next time.

We may head to Quartzsite at some point but I doubt it will be for two months. Maybe collectively, but not all at once. As is the usual RV comment – It depends . . .
We are Sun-Birds! We live in the south during the winter, then drive to the New England area in the springtime for Workamping at a campground.
I live in Florida, we like the mountains.

Texas in the winter, Iowa & travel May-Oct. While in Tx we have a wonderful home park that keeps us entertained. Summer months we see family, visit doctors & dentist, maintenance on our travel RV.
We live on Alabama Coast, We enjoy having the Snowbirds spend their Winter and money with us. We head North in Summer and enjoy some of those same folks.
Love winter. Wish the old fashioned winters would return with all the snow and cold.
Phoenix area for the winter. Can’t say I miss Washington winters, because I have never been here in the winter (8 yrs). Pictures of the snow look nice when your sitting you lounge chair and it’s 75 degrees in Arizona.
Already here for 6 months. Then return north and our house for 6 months. And yes, we see lots of people domiciled in the south in our area for the summer. The road runs both directions.
I am already in Quartzsite for the winter. The weather is nice now. Venders are opening shop. Hope to see a few rain storms this winter. It is very dry here this year.
Since we spend our summers at the Oregon Coast, I said yes to going south as our home is in the California Mojave Desert.
We replied no because we live in southern Arizona.

Mid-December to Mid-April in Mesa.
We live about 25 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. Not much further south for us to go.
Been wintering in Arizona for 22 years now, then back to WA. for the summer. No freezing temps for us!

December through March along the Texas Gulf Coast. This will be our third winter there. We love it.
Used to be gone Jan-May. Gave up the road last year.
We are in a minority because we love “winter Camping” in the winter. Some of the State parks are open for cross-country skiers to stay. We use to boondock at ski resort’s parking lots. Many around us use to allow this if you buy lift passes. Haven’t done that for a while.
I don’t have to go south, I live south.
We live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, and the weather is perfect to visit south Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
We live west of Fort Worth the weather has been warm.. most RVfolks don’t care for Texas.. it’s a shame.
We love Texas! We will spend time in San Antonio and Austin for two months before heading home to Toronto in May.
First time trying out snowbirding. We’ll see if my wife and I can stand living in 165 sq. ft. for 4 months. However, if we want to go home early, we just have to look at the temperature in Edmonton, Alberta. That should convince us to stick it out a bit longer.
We are going to Margaritaville in Crystal Beach for Thanksgiving for 5 days.. not 2 months..

I so enjoy the golf, scenery and weather in the Southwest, and have always been treated so very well by our US friends, neighbours and allies!

We have reservations in So Padre Island for Dec with the option of Jan. I love the beach, husband the mountains so probably will only get Dec!

Thank you, RV Travel! Go south for the winter? No, we live there, more or less. We are just a bit north of the Tennessee-Georgia border in East Tennessee. Our winters are mild enough that we use our RV year ’round, never winterizing. Have a great day and safe travels!
