Unless you just bought your RV, there’s a good chance your RV or tow vehicle has some serious miles on it. If you’re using it the way most RVers do—traveling from park to park and exploring new places—those miles can add up fast.
Go take a quick look at the odometer. If you have a towable RV, check your tow vehicle. If you have a motorhome, check the mileage there.
For many RVers, those numbers reflect years of travel, road conditions, and real-world wear and tear. Whether it’s 30,000 or 130,000 miles, it’s useful to know where your vehicle stands—and interesting to see how you compare with others.
For some RVers, the mileage can be surprisingly low because their rig spends more time parked at a seasonal site or used for shorter regional trips. Others rack up miles quickly chasing good weather, visiting family, or crossing the country multiple times a year.

Our truck came with over 200,000 miles on it – it has towed a 5th wheel and a travel trailer probably 5000 miles over the last 3 camping seasons. Finally retired so hoping to add to those miles!
I tend to drive vehicles forever, I sold my Suburban at 403,000 miles no rust, no wrecks, but it was getting expensive to repair. I will consider replacing my F-150 at 300K.
2020 Subaru Ascent – just about to crack 100K miles. About 1/3 of those miles are towing our ‘rolling hotel room’.
Our current TV has just over 750,000 miles and the trailer it tows about 50,000. I should add though, our TV is a retired class 8 truck (semi) converted into an RV hauler.

I notice that all of the comments so far were about people’s tow vehicles. So I thought I’d toss in my motorhome. I have a Coachman Freelander Elite, pre-COVID version. And we are now in the process of returning from a road trip from Delaware to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and back. The motorhome will turn 100,000 before we get home.
I put 160,000 on our first 2007 Toyota Tundra, our current 2017 just turned 67,000 trouble free miles. We bought our Starcraft Autumn Ridge in 2017 and we have put over 37,000 trouble free miles on it as well. It’s currently on it’s 3rd set of Goodyear Endurance tires. At 82 years old we plan to add many more miles and memories before we hang up the keys.
30,000 miles on my current F-150, but it is the third tow vehicle I have towed my current trailer with. The electronics in the second one, a 2015 F-150 died from EMP when lightning struck a nearby tree. The trailer has way more miles on it than its current tow vehicle.

At 15 years that’s low mileage on our 32′ motorhome, but are taking lots of short (less than 200 miles) trips you don’t rack up the miles. It’s not that we don’t travel further – we’ve taken 2 trips to the Grand Canyon, a few from Colorado or Montana to California, Oregon & Washington. We enjoy our trips, no matter how long or short.

Our motorhome that we bought from friends already had 140k miles. We put another 114k on since then in our 10 years. Our first motorhome we put 157k on, so over 200k between the two of them.
Forgot to add, our first motorhome was an orphan, a ’91 Journey Fred. Way more repairs than you’d believe. Our current coach is an ’04 Newmar 40′ Mountain Aire that we got in 1/17.
Bought my tow vehicle (F-250 gasser) in 2022 with 30K miles on it. Bought my fifth wheel a few months later. I work full time from home, so most of the miles since are traveling. I just hit 120K miles. This year we’re heading cross country instead of staying east coast, so the miles will keep addiing up.
The Ram has 162,578 and still running great hoping for 250,000. It performs exactly what it was purchased to do with all just normal maintenance. Last three Rams as well retired at 250,000 since 2009.
