How important to you is a $600 government stimulus payment?

It appears now that the government will soon provide another stimulus payment to some Americans. At the moment, the amount is $600 per person, but not for everyone. The President has not yet signed the bill authorizing payment, so whether the payments will be made and their amount is uncertain.

As it stands, if your 2019 reported income was $75,000 or less, under the current plan you would be eligible to receive the full $600 one-time payment. Couples who reported an adjusted gross income up to $150,000 would receive $1,200.

If you reported making more than $75,000, you would receive partial payments dropping by $5 for every $100 above the income limits.

If you’re a couple making $174,000 or more, or a head of household making more than $124,500, you also won’t get the stimulus check.

So, assuming the payments are indeed paid, how important is the money to you? Your respectful comments are welcome, but all hostile ones will be deleted.

$600 is meaningless for the vast majority. Give more and to people who need it. It’s our money in the first place, they take it from us then make a big deal about giving it back.

We are fortunate to not need it. We plan ahead and have an emergency fund. We will give it to our choice of someone else

It will buy my next gun in preparation for the next round of riots, keeping rioters at bay. In April 1962 I took an oath to protect this country from enemies both foreign and domestic, no one has ever relieved me of that oath I believe in the second amendment and practice it.

At some point I expect you will have to pay taxes on it. I already pay too much in taxes.

Surprisingly being retired actually makes this stimulus money a nice but not critical add.

Donating out like before to food banks. There are many small and large businesses that should not have gotten the PPP but it sure helped the legalized crooks with briefcases aka attorneys and many others. It’s the little store/shop owners and their handful of employees or the other little guy that got slapped in just starting a business and this started but told they didn’t qualify because they weren’t in business for quite a year. Maybe this country is great but I’m having my second thoughts.

Anyone notice that the GOP is all up in arms about giving people in need $600-, but they gave the Ayn Rand Institute over $1,000,000. Now, for my family, that money will be helpful since my wife is still working part time due to the shut down, but it’ll go to some maintenance work on our RV I’ve delayed over money and job concerns.

It would be very useful to help paying down the credit card bill, but I can survive without it.

It would be nice if the politicians would just write a bill without the “pork” and take care of Americans, but some don’t seem to be able to handle that.

Which is why I have no respect for politicians. They never deal with the task at hand without adding their “pork”!

Gary, you have spoken volumes of truth. I love my country, however lose more and more faith in our politicians.

Absolutely Gary! Why can’t they pass a bill that JUST helps AMERICAN individuals and businesses! I will NEVER understand why OUR MONEY is going to Foreign Countries (except that the politicians get kick backs on it).

I don’t qualify but if I did I would want mine to go to someone who really needs it.

Make China Pay. Step 1 – cancel all debt held by China.

Sounds good but China owns most of our debt which could be called by China at anytime. China owns a majority of all real estate in the US. So when politicians talk about China this and that it’s just smoke. The US is dependent on China! If you don’t believe, do your own research. It’s not hard to find.

I knew this question would provoke political comments, because its a political question. Joe and Jeff below, said it all. This isn’t about Americans needing a government handout, its about politicians serving their masters. This is not the Federal Governments money, we’re broke …. its paper money and they want to send billions of it out of America to help foreign countries deficits. Crazy. There is only one politician in America who cares about this country and he just got dismissed by a corrupt system.

I can’t recall too many politicians who ‘care about this country’ trying to overthrow an election. I call that corrupt. But, I guess you folks are going to go to your graves believing a man who has convinced you everyone but him is corrupt.

We have succeeded in destroying America! What a slap in the face when you incorporate billions to foreign countries that hate us and dismiss the American people with crumbs and shut down all small business’ across this country but the big box stores are open and doing well! Time to rid ourselves of these self serving politicians!

Here’s my comment. I believe I will get a lot of hate full comments.which is fine. 2020 reminds me so much of 2008 when I lost my full time threw no fault of my own. I feel sorry for everyone who lost there jobs this year threw no fault of there own. There was no reason to shut this country down. Next time we have another health scare are we going too shut this country down again? The United States is broke where are we getting this money from?
I am sick and tired of hearing about covid 19. A person doesn’t know what too believe.

Same here. I believe that this “pandemic ” is a tool of the leftists and communist china, enabled by the leftist media. 99.5% survival and we have a vaccine, get the economy back and no more lockdowns. All work is essential.

So it’s easier for you to believe it’s a conspiracy than it’s an actual pandemic?

It certainly is for me. I’ve had more friends die of suicide, and elderly family members die alone in nursing homes without seeing friends or family members for months due to government restrictions, than I’ve had friends or family members die of COVID.

Regardless of your personal experience, hospitals are overrun, we’re losing a 9/11 every day. How is that not a pandemic?

Not to be a grammar Nazi, but it’s ‘through’ unless you are tossing an object.

And, yes, there IS a valid reason to shut everything down – it’s called keeping people alive. Now, was the shut down handled properly? Lords, NO! If we had done like nearly every other Nation did, pay people to stay home (basically a salary guarantee if they couldn’t work from home or were not essential) and actually ticketed people who were out maskless, then we would have mostly smothered this virus on American soil. New Zealand, Australia, Spain, and any number of other countries did it and they don’t have a huge resurgence that we have had.

Stop believing the conservative media fueled lies. The response to this was bungled by the Feds (run by conservatives) because they were more worried about Wall Street, than Main Street. Of course this is political – because politics is about policy, and the Trump Administration had a policy of ‘ignore it and it will go away’. 320k+ Americans are now dead.

Most people who died had other problems and the virus just made it worse. During the first six months medical facilities were told what ever someone died from to list the cause of death as covid19. My sister is a RN in Kansas and their hospital got that notice. I believe that could be called political. They received $1300 for each COVID-19 death.

They are “giving back” $600? ( well not to me…) And then going to tax that as income? Along with the $1200 from earlier this year?

How about this: Wal-Mart, Lowes, home depot, all the big chain stores are only allowed 50 people at a time. Allow ALL small businesses to open again ( most stores can’t hold more than 10-15 people anyway!). Lets stop penalizing the people who make the hole country work!!

Such a joke that big businesses, that fund politicians, were allowed to stay open. While small businesses all had to close. Terrible funnel of money from small to large giving them more money to pass along for re-election. Term limits.

wanderer

You are right, but term limits only give permanent control to the corporations via their lobbying and bribing. We could use a lot of state and federal prosecutors going after corruption and send this army of crooks home, then maybe we could replace them with real representatives.
