Rent a vintage trailer by a vineyard pond

The look, feel and ambiance of some new campgrounds are changing from the typically cramped RV parks to renting just a few RVs, mostly trailers (and vintage, at that) already set up in a campsite on a larger piece of private land. It may be a slow progression for now, but if the Trailer Pond is any indication, more creative entrepreneurs will soon follow suit.

The Trailer Pond trailers include a 1958 Kenskill Deluxe, 1959 Terry, 1962 Aristocrat, 1956 Jewel, and a 1959 Shasta set along the shore of a pond amid the fields of Alta Colina Vineyard, an organic winery in Paso Robles, CA.

The project is the creation of Jaime and Carl Holm, founders of Tinker Tin Trailer Co., which provides vintage trailer rentals. The two trailer rescuers refurbished these five mid-century trailers, each painted a different candy-colored shade, and created a trailer park resort on a picturesque 130-acre property in wine country.

Campers (each equipped with a double bed) start at $250 per night and include access to a communal kitchen, campfire area, dock and hiking trails. Catered meals, yoga instruction, wine-blending classes, and transportation to Central Coast sites are also available.
