A new 66-site RV park next to the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion in Marion County, Florida, has officially opened. All sites will include full hookups—water, sewer and electricity. The campground is expected to generate more than $1 million in revenue by its fifth year in operation.
According to the latest research on the economic impact of tourism in Marion County, a total of 1.4 million people visited the county between April 2023 and March 2024, generating more than $1 billion in revenue. Pavilion Manager Christen Milligan stated that the new RV campground is “certainly a long time coming.”
Funding for the project was a joint venture between the county and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, with the latter providing grant funding that covered approximately 31% of construction costs.
The Southeastern Livestock Pavilion is a 4,212-seat covered arena located in Ocala, Florida. It has an interesting history. It was one of the first new arenas to be completed after World War II, having been built in 1945. It is still used for rodeos, concerts, trade shows and other special events.
Marion County is located in the North Central region of the state of Florida. The new park is at 2232 NE Jacksonville Road. For questions, including about making reservations, contact the SELP at 352-671-8600 or SELP@MarionFL.org.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new park is set for 9 a.m. on May 29.
