RV sales finally showed a year-over-year gain in June—but don’t break out the champagne just yet. According to Statistical Surveys Inc., which tracks retail registrations for the RV industry, it’s only the second time since 2023 that a single month has beaten its numbers from the same month a year earlier. RV retail sales for June 2025 showed one clear winner.
The numbers tell the story: 37,596 RVs sold in June 2025 compared to 37,265 in June 2024. That’s an extra 331 units—less than a 1% increase. Small? Yes. But after months of either flat or sliding sales, even a baby step in the right direction can feel like a win if you’re an RV dealer.

There’s an important twist, though: That increase is almost entirely thanks to travel trailers. Every other major RV category either held steady or lost ground compared to last June.
Travel trailers carry the day
Travel trailers were the star of the month, posting a 6.3% jump with 24,392 units sold in June versus 22,957 the year before. That’s more than 1,400 additional trailers rolling onto campsites, driveways, and storage lots across the country.
Market share leaders in the travel trailer segment were:
• THOR Industries – 41.9%
• Forest River – 39.8%
• Grand Design – 6.6%
This growth helped mask the declines in other RV segments, keeping the overall industry number in the black for the month.
Other segments struggle
Once you move beyond towables, the story changes. Fifth wheels were down 2.6% with 5,233 units sold. Pop-ups saw a big drop of 30.9%, with only 385 sold in June. Park models slid 12.6% to 236 units.
Motorized RVs—which tend to carry higher price tags and be more sensitive to interest rate and fuel cost changes—also took a hit. Class A motorhomes dropped 25.5% to 593 units. Class C models were down 6.4% with 1,723 sold. Class B camper vans took one of the steepest dives, falling 23.6% to just 709 units.
Year-to-date picture still down
Looking at the first half of the year, retail registrations total 186,400 units. That’s 2.6% fewer than the 191,444 sold during the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, the RV Industry Association’s wholesale shipment data—which tracks how many units manufacturers ship to dealers—shows 29,332 RVs shipped in June and 190,705 shipped year-to-date.
What it means for RVers
For RV shoppers, the data points to an industry still in a slow patch, especially outside of the travel trailer market. That can translate to more negotiating room for buyers, particularly on motorized rigs and other towables that aren’t seeing growth. For sellers, it’s a reminder that while there are signs of life, the road to a strong recovery is far from complete.
