Gainesville, Florida, firefighters received a call around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, April 27, local time. The caller reported billowing smoke on Highway 301 near Gainesville.
When arriving on the scene, fire officials determined that an RV and the Jeep it had been towing were both fully engulfed in flames.
Officials immediately closed all Highway 301 northbound lanes out of Gainesville, and the fire was extinguished before it spread to nearby trees.
Both the RV and Jeep were destroyed; however, the RV’s occupants made it out safely before the fire spread and there were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

I hope that their insurance was current so they can resume RVing in the future, presuming this hasn’t drained them of all enthusiasm for it.
