Today’s thought
“The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.” ―
Need an excuse to celebrate? Today is National Shrimp Scampi Day!
On this day in history: 2004 – The final Oldsmobile is built in Lansing, Michigan, ending 107 years of vehicle production.

How do you hang a TV wall mount on an RV wall?
By Russ and Tiña De Maris
RV TV wall mounts are great. Their swing feature allows users to turn the TV in multiple directions, great for the rather strange seating arrangements RV manufacturers often use. They also allow the TV to be pushed back out of the way when not in use. Trouble is, these articulating mounts typically require the use of wall studs for a safe and secure install. If the desired wall doesn’t have studs—typical of most fiberglass or composite exterior RV walls—what’s to be done? Here’s one way to get the job done.

My RV roof air conditioner cools for 15 minutes then just blows air. Why?
By Dave Solberg
Dear Dave,
I have a Dometic roof air conditioner. It puts out cold air for about 15 minutes then just blows air after that. I turn it off for about an hour and the whole process starts over again. —Dave, 2017 Winnebago Micro Minnie, 21 feet

2024 Alliance RV Avenue All Access 28BH fifth wheel – It’s “bunkhousey”
By Tony Barthel
Today’s RV review is of the 2024 Alliance RV Avenue All Access 28BH fifth wheel. As you likely guessed from the model designation, this is a bunkhouse model, but it’s almost the least “bunkhousey” fifth wheel that you can get. What do I mean by that?

When do I release my RV slide-out button?
By Dustin Simpson
Back in the day, Dave Solberg and I did a weekly livestream where RVers could come on and ask us questions. Below is an excerpt from one of those shows where one of our viewers wanted to know when he should release his RV slide-out button.
Question: When extending or retracting slide-outs, when should I release the button? I usually count three seconds after the slides are fully extended or retracted before releasing the button. Am I damaging the hydraulic motor holding for that long?

12 small RV gadgets you’ll wish you had bought sooner!
By Cheri Sicard
In this video, my favorite RV gearhead, Joshua from RV Gear and Far, brings us a list of 12 small RV gadgets that he says bring tremendous value to his RVing life. (Yes, the video title says 11 but I counted 12, making it an even dozen!)
Sometimes the simplest things can make the biggest impact when it comes to day-to-day activities and convenience when living in an RV. Joshua’s small RV gadgets list provides some excellent examples of that.

Yes, RVers need to follow proper campground laundromat etiquette
By Gail Marsh
Woweee! Who’d ever think that a conversation about laundering clothes could elicit such strong emotions? Yep, a recent campfire discussion focused on RV campground laundromats and laundromat etiquette. It was quite a conversation!

Would you rather live where most often daily temps were lower than 50 or higher than 90?
Quick Tip
Save time crossing the border
Planning on an RV adventure into Mexico or Canada (or to Alaska via Canada), but on a tight schedule? Call ahead to the border crossing (or check online at U.S. Customs and Border Protection) and check for crossing times. If there’s a long wait, check and see if another nearby crossing has a better offering.

Delicious Spinach Artichoke Dip
by Bre Van Patten from Vale, OR
This savory and creamy spinach artichoke dip is packed with artichokes. Definitely not something you’d find in the frozen food aisle. The addition of salad seasoning, lemon zest and juice really elevates the flavors. You can tell there’s lemon in every bite, but it’s not overpowering. Since this can be eaten hot or cold, double the batch to bring to your next tailgate. Grab some pita or tortilla chips and dig in!
Trivia

Do you know what an airpark is? Airparks are residential communities where people can park their private planes in their driveways and have direct runway access. You know how people who have boats like to live on lakes? Or people who golf like to live on golf courses? Well, it’s the same thing. These small, niche communities are subdivisions that look like many other neighborhoods: spacious lawns, new homes, sidewalks… and very, very wide streets… that are actually runways. There are about 436 airparks in the U.S. Florida has 52 of them, Washington has 50, California has 28 and Oregon has 23.

We live in western ny in summer and south central Tx in winter. Don’t like lower than 50 or higher than 80.
Larry, I’m with you completely !!!
We do something similar on the other side of the US….. Mid-May though the first of Oct on the Oregon coast and Oct to mid-May on the California Mojave desert.
I snowbird to Maine ever summer. Temps are around 70 and no higher then 80. I cannot stand the heat and the cold well another reason I moved out of Michigan.
Looks like Mahina is still waiting for the eclipse.
The Website of the day makes me wonder how the generation of Peace, Love, and Individual Freedom, has turned into and raised the intolerant, ultra-conservative generations of today.
And just for the record; at this stage of my life I consider myself an Extreme Moderate, who rejects the views of both the Left AND Right extremists.
I look forward to the Moderate Majority Revolution, when we return the extremists to the margins, where they belong.
Can I get an AMEN!
AMEN!
Thank You for posting my “moderately” political comments. 🙂
Sometimes an original comment is just fine, but then it can bring replies that aren’t “fine” and they deteriorate from there. So, occasionally, one of us moderators, rather than being nitpicky and deleting some of them and then have them go downhill again, will just delete the original comment and the rest automatically go with it. Have a good afternoon/evening, Sven. 😀 –Diane
AMEN,AMEN,AMEN,AMEN…
On todays MYSTERY PRODUCT Memory Mints they should have an option for getting them for a discount if you buy 12 or more!! Snoopy
Ironically, while searching for responses to my censored comments , an add for UNICEF popped up, with the tag line “Join Us”.
Dang!
Today is also National Zipper day.
Just so you know, the streets in Air Parks are NOT runways. They are taxiways, so the planes can get TO the runway.
Beat me to it. Trivia submitter is obviously not a pilot.
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 😉 Great issue (but aren’t they all?)! I enjoyed today’s laugh, but I need a larger-than-large dryer to accommodate me. 🤔😯🙁 I got a few of the “hippie cities” right, although I did not know the actual name of the one in Tennessee. It is not all that far from the University of the South, aka, Sewanee, where a fair question to ask any undergrad from there is, “What are you majoring in? Drinking?” 🤔😯😅😂😊 Kidding? No, I’m being seriously serious. Oh, well, enough of local “color.” 😉 Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
We live in both SW Florida and in New Hope, PA, which is across the bridge from Lambertville, NJ. It is about 3 miles north of Washington Crossing, PA and NJ, which is where George Washington crossed the Delaware river to attack and defeat the Hessians in Trenton NJ. Besides all of the Peace, Love and tolerance, it’s a historic area too. Philadelphia is about an hour away and NYC less than two hours. Great places to visit.
I am surprised Alaska does not have an airport suburb. As for wall mount? I had camping world install mine. Did not want a goof. I do not do campground laundromat. Too busy and takes forever to do what a regular laundromat does. In out done in under an hour. Now on to more funner things to do.
