The best way to back up a trailer
By Cheri Sicard
Backing up a trailer can be one of the most panic-inducing tasks facing new RVers. I have known numerous RVers who will go FAR out of their way and spend loads of extra money on RV park pull-through spots just to avoid this dreaded task. Panic no more. When it comes to the topic of how to back up a trailer, this video is one of the best we’ve seen on the topic.

Why you should update your RV faucet
RV faucets for kitchens and bathrooms are the unsung focal point of the room. Most of the activity in bathrooms and kitchens revolves around the sink. The RV faucet is the sink’s crowning jewel. An old, malfunctioning RV faucet may provide a good reason for replacement, but upgrading the interior décor may be another. Continue reading.

RVing the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
By Cheri Sicard
In the video below, Brian and Michelle, the team from Livin’ Our Vision, take us to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. If you ever wondered if it’s worth going, watch the video, find out, and live vicariously through Brian and Michelle. Although the couple had watched videos about the event, they said it does not compare to being there. (Not even close! —Emily)

RVer’s death could have been prevented with a satellite messenger. Don’t let it happen to you!
By Dave Helgeson
*This article was originally written in 2022, but we share it each year to serve as an important reminder.
In April of last year, my wife and I were traveling through central Nevada on the way to Death Valley when we learned about the death of a camper who became stranded in Death Valley. It inspired me to write an article on how the camper’s death could have been prevented with a satellite messenger. Please read this potentially lifesaving post.

Quick tip
Inspect your detectors lately?
Have you inspected and/or replaced your detectors lately? Pull your smoke, LP, and carbon monoxide detectors down and check their labels. Detectors are “good” within a certain date, and even if they seem to be “working” after the expiration date, don’t risk it—replace them.

Trivia
In 2012, Taco Bell did something very special for the 6,100 residents of Bethel, Alaska. Pranksters had posted announcements around town that a Taco Bell was coming soon. It was big news: the nearest city with such restaurants was 400 miles away. Alas, residents were disappointed when they learned the news was fake. Lucky for them, Taco Bell heard about the ruse. Soon, an airlifted truck showed up in Bethel with 10,000 tacos for a Taco Bell Feast.
Readers’ pet of the day
“Tulli, our little old Doxie man (age 16!), is our grandpuppy and loves cuddling in the trailer, growling at other dogs, and going for walks around the campground, but NEVER in the rain. We don’t get to camp with him often enough, especially as he ages. And yes, he burrows into any blanket available and sleeps sideways in our bed!” —Lil Fehr

About gas detectors: the one in our house alarmed last week: the voice alarm telling us to open windows, & the numbers displayed alarmingly high. Carrying it around the house, we decided it was the gas fireplace in the living room. Turned off the gas to that appliance, and called our heating guy… whose detector showed absolutely nothing wrong. He told us that our 5+ year-old LP / natural gas detector had aged out, and that was kind of a built-in feature (?) In retrospect our first clue should have been when it started talking to us occasionally Chinese! Anyway, it’s now replaced. If we had done that proactively, we might have saved the bill for the house call.

Teach a man to fish and he’ll sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
My Dad lived to fish. We joked…give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you’ll be rid of him for the whole weekend.
