First look at the 2027 Airstream Trade Wind 25FB
The 2027 Airstream Trade Wind 25FB is built for campers who want real off-grid capability in a familiar Airstream shape. Its lithium battery bank, inverter, and rooftop solar package let it do more while unplugged than most travel trailers this size. It also keeps the layout easy to live with, thanks to a front queen bed, a convertible rear dinette, and strong ventilation throughout. See what you think here.
WEDNESDAY CHUCKLE: If Wednesday had a personality, it’d remind everyone to stay hydrated and finish what they started.

It may be time to inspect your trailer brakes and bearings
When was the last time you did a trailer brake inspection? During a recent wheel bearing service, we found that this customer’s brake shoes were worn down on three out of the four brakes. This also caused damage to the drums. We also found that the roadside rear brake magnet wiring was cut in half and that the backing plate/shoe and drum were rusted. We found that all bearings were burnt and loose in bearing cages due to lack of lubrication. Don’t let this be you!

A wrecked RV + a fire truck = their dream RV conversion
Sarah and Mike wanted an RV that could handle road trips, carry the comforts of home, and feel nothing like a standard motorhome. What they ended up with looks more like a transformer than a camper: a wrecked RV trailer body on a retired fire truck. Their rig, called Steve RV, turns every gas stop into a tour. Check it out.

How to jack up your motorhome safely
By Russ and Tina De Maris
Does your motorhome need a tire change? Do you need to work on the brakes? There are plenty of maintenance and repair items that can call for jacking up a motorhome. But how do you jack up your motorhome safely? Sad to say, not a year goes by where we don’t see news items about RVers who’ve been seriously injured or killed when their rig has fallen on them. If your motorhome has levelers, we have the answers.

What kind of smartphone (cell phone) do you have?
Quick tip
Watch where you point your vents!
Got “pointable” air conditioning vents in your RV? Be careful how you point them! If you accidentally aim them at your thermostat, you may find the A/C system cycling erratically. The same is true for heater vents blasting at the thermostat.
Never lose your glasses or sunglasses again—always keep them nearby
This glasses holder clips to your car or RV’s visor so they’re always easily accessible to you. The glasses clip is closed with a magnet, holding it strong enough so that it won’t ever fall out, but is still easy enough to open with one hand. We love this! Learn more or order.

Trivia
According to an Insurify analysis of more than 97 million insurance quotes, North Dakota had the highest percentage of drivers with at least one speeding ticket on record (8.7%), followed by Wisconsin and Ohio (7.8% each). More recent 2025 research from LendingTree also found North Dakota ranked first for speeding-related incidents, suggesting the state continues to lead the nation in speeding enforcement or speeding violations.
Readers’ pet of the day

“This is our grand kitty, Edgar Allen Poe (age 3). He lives at our daughter’s bookstore, Books by the Pound, in Searcy, AR. Edgar was found as a tiny kitten and has lived there ever since. He is quite playful and will grab customers around the leg, play hide and seek, or take a ride on your back if you aren’t paying attention. He was ‘catnapped’ from the parking lot a few weeks ago, but after social media posts and outcries from the community, he was returned overnight. He is definitely a feature at the bookstore.” —Linda Dunlap
Send us a photo of your pet with a short description. No blurry photos and please do not submit your photo more than once. Thanks!

Quick tip closely related: pay attention to where the sun shines into your RV and the location of your thermostat. Ours was opposite the entry door window. Nice central location, but played havoc with environmental controls.
Love the Laugh.
We were in a Sam’s club yesterday and I noticed a package of ‘frozen’ ice cubes
A 12 oz box cost $4.99.
This is now a trendy item to buy for alcoholic beverages. The ice cubes are clear squares made with less air so they melt more slowly. They are also supposedly made with purer water so that when they do melt they don’t “contaminate” the alcohol. Is it worth it? I’ll never know because I’m not paying $4.99 for 12 ice cubes. Aldi is also selling these.
What a cute kitty in a bookstore. Glad he was returned.
Thank you, Emily and Diane. Have a great day and safe travels!
Edgar Allen Poe is a cutie and a black cat he is. Why anyone would try and catnap him is beyond me, but people are screwy. I’m super glad he was returned. I could use his advice when I’m looking for good reads. I visit Cupboard Maker Books in Enola, PA and love on the kitties while there, look it up sometime on your camping travels.
North Dakota #1 for speeding tickets – wow – that’s why we raised the speed limit this year to 80 mph; so they don’t have to write so many tickets! Ya. Right! Now the tickets are in excess of 100 mph! Long, flat interstates, Hmmm. Sounds like Texas! One this past week or two was for 126 mph – they guy said he had to go to the bathroom!!!!( Didn’t say #1 or 2!) (We used to stop on the shoulder! # 1 of course!).
