The 2026 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40 IP comes in with a big reputation and an even bigger presence. Matt, of Matt’s RV Reviews, calls it the king of diesel pushers. This best-selling 40 IP floor plan blends high-end luxury, smart engineering, and a true bus-style look that turns heads on any lot or campground.
In the video at the end of this post, Matt gives us a full tour.
Tiffin owners are usually loyal, and this coach shows why. The Allegro Bus line sits near the top of Tiffin’s lineup, just under the Zephyr, and the 40 IP is one of its most popular floor plans.
Key specs
- Length: 41’5″ (not the 41 feet 492 inches typo listed online)
- Fresh water: 100 gallons
- Black tank: 55 gallons
- Gray tank: 100 gallons
- Engine: Cummins diesel with 450 horsepower
MSRP on the reviewed coach is $695,260, with General RV listing it at $585,995.
Exterior and outdoor living
From the outside, the Tiffin Allegro Bus 40 IP looks every bit like a luxury coach. The full-body paint has a deep blue accent that sets it apart from the Phaeton and Allegro Red lines, and the front headlight design feels more refined and upscale.
Bus-style chrome mirrors with integrated cameras flank the front. An Onan 10,000-watt generator hides behind the front cap, paired with a 360-camera system and collision mitigation tech.
On the entry side, the coach shows off:
- Tiffin’s “roughing it smoothly” doggy window by the passenger seat
- Cassette-style power steps
- A large grab handle
- Touchpad keyless entry
Michelin 315/80R22.5 tires ride on polished Alcoa aluminum rims. Fuel can be filled from either side of the coach.
The awning setup is stacked. Window awnings, massive Girard main awnings, Girard slide toppers, and a door awning create shade almost anywhere needed. The hosts even joke about yawning at all the awnings.
For outdoor living, the coach includes:
- A Truma refrigerator on a MORryde slide-out tray
- A large electric cargo slide tray
- An exterior LG TV with USB and USB-C ports
- A clean wet bay with everything clearly labeled
- A convenient portable water fill
Around the back, there is a 10,000-pound hitch with an air connection, engine access, a large Allegro Bus mud flap, and rear cameras. A one-piece fiberglass roof sits up top, with side-mounted radiators and no exterior ladder.
Power and utilities include a 50-amp power cord on an electric reel, DEF fill, a 450D hydronic heating system, and a fully electric setup with no propane.
Interior
Inside, the cockpit reminds the driver that this is a serious coach. The steering wheel hub simply says “Bus.” Controls are mostly physical buttons, including leveling, night shades, and the air horn. There is a wireless phone charger and an easy-to-read command center.
The coach uses Tiffin’s PowerGlide chassis, designed for a smooth, confident ride. A separate screen covers the camera views, and Mobileye collision mitigation adds extra safety.
The co-captain seat gets real treatment too, with:
- A comfortable, fully adjustable chair
- A step cover
- A dedicated screen for navigation
- Controls for lights and steps
Above, there is an LG TV, JBL sound system, and Starlink prep. The coach also includes a Waggle system and Waggle Cam for monitoring pets and the interior.
The main living area starts with large power recliners, each with cup holders, USB-C ports, and storage. They sit directly across from a big LG TV on a televator, which disappears to reveal a huge window when not in use. Those large, squared-off windows are a standout feature both inside and out.
On the opposite wall, a long sofa converts into a bed for guests. It is clearly meant for “non-paying customers,” as the hosts joke, but it looks comfortable and well-designed. An extendable dining table with upscale chairs sits nearby, framed by high-end cabinetry that makes it hard to complain about build quality.
The kitchen feels like a compact luxury condo.
The kitchen includes:
- Convection microwave with air-fryer function
- Two-burner induction cooktop with solid-surface covers
- Dishwasher below the cooktop
- Large LG residential refrigerator with freezer drawer
- Huge double-bowl sink with three heavy solid-surface inserts
Counter space grows once the covers and pull-out counter extension are used. The backsplash carries a modern look, and there is a small extra faucet for filtered or fresh water. Drawers are soft-close, and there is a dedicated trash space and even a drawer for built-in dog bowls. A paint touch-up kit is tucked in the cabinetry for fixing small rock chips.
A tall pantry with push-to-open shelves runs nearly floor to ceiling, adding real food storage for long trips.
The half bath
Midship, the half bath includes a mirrored medicine cabinet, a solid-surface countertop, and a porcelain toilet. The host notes it is not a “prime pooping position,” since the fit is a bit tight, but it is still functional and finished nicely.
The rear suite feels like a small luxury apartment. It features:
- A king-size bed
- A ceiling fan
- Detailed ceiling accents
- Side tables with power, USB, and USB-C ports plus storage
Opposite the bed sits an LG TV over an electric fireplace that produces heat, flanked by storage cabinets. One upper panel hides wiring instead of storage, but there is still plenty of usable space.
The master bath spans the full width of the rear. Highlights include:
- Dual sinks with solid-surface counters
- Large mirrored medicine cabinets
- Built-in soap dispenser
- Lower storage cabinets and drawers
- Stackable washer and dryer
- A wardrobe with shelves and a built-in safe
The rear porcelain toilet earns Matt’s full “prime pooping position” status, with good shoulder room and smart use of the engine access hatch. Tiffin still finishes the hatch in tile, so it stays flush with the heated tile floor that runs throughout the coach.
The shower has a step up, tile surrounds, a skylight that can open for more headroom or light, and plenty of width and depth. It passes the host’s shower test with ease.
Three things Matt does not like
Even with this level of coach, the review still calls out a few misses:
- No emergency egress door in the rear bath, which many diesel pusher shoppers expect.
- The walkway with the slides in is very tight. The fridge and half bath are usable, and the bed is mostly reachable, but larger people or those with mobility issues may struggle.
- Carpet in the bedroom area. It is not a big deal by itself, but at this price point, many buyers prefer alternative flooring everywhere.
Three favorite features
The love list is longer, but the top three are clear:
- The huge, squared-off windows, inside and out. They add light, views, and a real bus look.
- The kitchen layout and storage. High-end appliances, smart counter space, a strong pantry, and details like the dog bowls and dishwasher give it a true residential feel.
- The Tiffin PowerGlide chassis and cockpit. The ride quality, layout of controls, and presence of the “Bus” badging all reinforce that this is a flagship coach.
Final thoughts
The 2026 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40 IP shows why many RVers see Tiffin as the top of the class for luxury diesel pushers. It brings serious storage, real livability, and enough tech and comfort to stay on the road for long stretches. Anyone considering a high-end diesel pusher can use this floor plan as a benchmark.

As the owner of a 2021 40ip, my only real issue was the Schwintek rear slides. After quite a few issues with them, tiffin paid for us to get the vroom update. Otherwise our bus has been fabulous,
The theater seating is the ugliest I’ve seen. The sofa bed isn’t far behind. You’d think being a top of the line motor home would have nicer furniture. Plus the toilet would be better located to use.
The Allegro Bus is a very nice coach and competitive in its class, but “The King of Diesel Pushers?!” I think that anyone with a Prevost Conversion or a Newell would beg to disagree!
The lack of a full door emergency escape is a major downside in safety. Newmar offered the full escape door, with a built in ladder, as an option long ago and now it’s standard on their DPs. No trying to crawl out a window in dark and smoke!
Side note: General RVs price of 16% off MSRP is ridiculously high! Actually laughable. 🤣
