Everything old is new again! Based on the Serro Scotty canned ham trailers of yesteryear that originated the drop floor, the Little Guy Micro Max brings it back. The result is a tiny, canned ham-style trailer with enough room to stand! In the video below, the team from Playing with Sticks gives us a tour.
The drop floor allowed for extra interior height while still being able to park the trailer in most garages. With the Little Guy Micro Max, they took the basic premise of the vintage trailer and added hardwood cabinets, Euro windows, Azdel composite sidewalls and roof, aluminum framing, and much more to update this special little camper to modern standards.
The video begins with a representative from the company talking about how they used an actual vintage Serro Scotty as the template for the Little Guy Micro Max.
The trailer will fit inside a standard 8’ garage yet still manages to have an interior height of 5’9”.
Surprisingly roomy inside, the Little Guy Micro Max has dining seating for 6. It’s also one of the only small campers where you can have a bed and table set up at all times without having to break one down to use the other.
The kitchen features a 2-burner Dometic stove, a 12-volt dorm-style fridge, a microwave, and a small sink with built-in covers and dish drainers.
There is also a respectable amount of basement storage for a trailer this small, although not quite a pass-through.
The built-in rail along the perimeter was designed to work with after-market awnings, screen rooms, and visors.
The trailer in the video is outfitted with the “Rough Rider” package, which has bigger tires and a 3” lift. (Note: This option may or may not affect whether or not the trailer can fit in your garage.). It also has an optional cassette toilet.

What’s not to like?
It would have been nice if instead of the cabinet holding the cassette toilet, this was a wet bath. However, you do get an outdoor shower.
You might think with the dropped floor this trailer might have a problem with ground clearance. According to the video, it’s not so! Tune in at point 15:40 for a discussion of ground clearance.
According to current owner feedback, the cabinet hardware can present some challenges in staying closed.
And especially if you are taller than 5’9”, you are going to want to check one of these out in person to see if you are comfortable with the height.

A dropped floor with a 5’9″ ceiling height would still be 5″ too short for me. Might as well have a real Little Guy teardrop, since I couldn’t stand up in either one!
This trailer brings back many memories of our first trailer, a Serro Scotty Highlander. While a bit larger than the Scotty Sportsman it did not have a lot of the features of this unit. We would have loved to have had a cassette toilet. It did introduce us to the RV Lifestyle which we have enjoyed all these years. Thanks for sharing this.
