The video above from the Nature Lover Birdlife Odyssey YouTube channel is a compilation of bird bloopers, if you will. It’s funny moments and excerpts from the Big Bear Lake bald eagle nest live feed camera.
The bald eagle nest live feed started streaming on September 15, 2021, and is a project of the Friends of Big Bear Valley, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Located in Big Bear Valley in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California, the bald eagle nest sits about 145 feet up in a Jeffrey Pine tree. Jackie and Shadow, a local bald eagle pair aged 12 and 10, respectively, currently call the nest home. The live feed gives nature lovers a true view into the home of these magnificent birds.
You can tune in to the live feed here, anytime, to see what Jackie and Shadow are up to in real-time.
But the video shows some of the bald eagle pair’s funniest and more endearing moments. After all, something may or may not be happening when you tune into the live feed, but the video above is filled with interesting glimpses into the bald eagles’ lives.
Tune in and see these highlights:
- A flying squirrel leaps on Jackie!
- Shadow covers Jackie with his tail while furnishing the nest
- Shadow finds and eats a coot foot but does NOT share with Jackie
- Jackie’s cute little sleep chortles
- Where is Jackie? What happens when the eagle’s nest is covered in snow?
- Shadow puts a stick on Jackie’s back
- Nest furnishing negotiations
- Shadow steps on Jackie while arranging sticks

This is a cool link. I even put a shortcut on my desktop.
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 I’ll share this with DW. When we lived outside DC and commuted on the George Washington Parkway, DW drove to work later than I, after the sun was up. She usually was in stop-and-go traffic, which afforded her numerous opportunities to watch the nest of a pair of eagles just off the Parkway (and where it was very close to the Potomac River). I got regular reports of the eagles’ activities from her. 🙂 She will truly enjoy this video feed; thanks again! Safe travels, too! 🙂
