RVing foodies take note! In the video above we join Kelly and Kevin, aka The Awkward Tourists, for a Las Vegas food tour of six spectacular special occasion restaurants you are surely going to want to check out to celebrate a Las Vegas vacation.
With so many Las Vegas restaurants to choose from these days, Kelly and Kevin’s Las Vegas food tour will give you some excellent suggestions to add to your Las Vegas dining plans. And since the list includes both brunch and dinner options, you’ll be covered no matter what time of day.
To be sure, these are going to be special occasion treats for most people as these restaurants most definitely are not light on the budget scale, although little in Las Vegas is these days.
Las Vegas food tour: 6 must-try restaurants!
#1 Kassi Beach House, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas: Serving coastal Italian cuisine, of course, seafood is the star of this beach vibe fine dining restaurant, but they also serve steaks and hand-crafted artisan cocktails. Our hosts started with the mezze platter, and you must watch the video because if the food tastes anywhere as good as it looks, this restaurant is a winner.
#2 BARDOT Brasserie, ARIA Resort & Casino: Chef Michael Mina’s gorgeous French brasserie features a 1920s-style vibe, a large central brass bar, and upscale French cuisine. Our hosts went to brunch at the BARDOT Brasserie, which features endless mimosas along with creative gourmet ways to start the day.
#3 Carson Kitchen, John E. Carson Hotel: In downtown Las Vegas, this modern, award-winning casual eatery with an industrial vibe and observation kitchen serves playful interpretations of comfort food that are both delicious and filling. The dishes, for the most part, are all sharable, so have fun trying different flavors. If your tastes are more down home than haute cuisine, this would be the one to check out.
#4 Cathédrale, ARIA Resort & Casino: An upscale French Mediterranean restaurant serving gourmet Continental cuisine in a sophisticated setting.
#5 Vanderpump Cocktail Garden, Caesar’s Palace: The couple enjoyed another indulgent brunch here, where Kelly had “the best lychee cocktail of [her] life,” along with a sampling of scrumptious-looking small plates.
#6 LAGO, Bellagio Hotel & Casino: Another Italian Coastal eatery, this one features small plates to share and an unparalleled view of the strip, including the spectacular Bellagio fountains. The indulgent menu included Strawberry Pancakes and Lobster Benedict.

Last year, local friends took us to Bob Taylor’s Ranch House, a steak house, in North Las Vegas near where Hwy 95 and 215 meet. An old fashioned ranch looking place that you can tell has been there for years. Years before the highways, houses and commercial building that surround it were there. Opened 1955, they serve a meal that reminds you of traditional old west hospitality. See their website
Last year, we had a work team dinner at Blackout in Las Vegas. This is a restaurant where you eat completely in the dark. The staff guide you into the dining room and help you get seated, then the wait staff (who all wear night vision goggles) bring each course while describing the dish and how to find it on the table. At one point, they asked us to do a clinking of our wine glasses…IN THE DARK! I just knew that glass was going to go flying everywhere, but it didn’t. I am not an adventurous eater, so to say that I was a bit nervous is an understatement. However, the food was really good (all vegan, I believe). They let you view the menu afterwards. It was quite the experience!
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Interesting information; thanks. DW has been to Las Vegas. I don’t think that I’ve ever been anywhere in Nevada. If we ever travel to Las Vegas, then I’ll check out your article to create an itinerary. Meanwhile, thank you and safe travels! 🙂
