Tour the 2024 Lance 825 short-bed truck camper

In the video above we join Scott Hudgins from Yorktown, Virginia’s Dodd RV (family-owned and operated since 1956!) for a tour of the 2024 Lance 825 short-bed truck camper.

Lance has long been known for its quality trailers and truck campers, and the 825, one of Lance’s most popular campers, is no exception. The camper in the video is loaded with options like solar and an extra bunk, so be sure to watch to see how it all goes together.

I was surprised at the amount of cabinets and storage, especially if you don’t use the drop-down cabinet bunk as a bunk. Either way, the large closet just inside the door provides lots of storage. There’s also storage on both sides of the queen-sized bed in the cab-over area.

The dinette is bigger than expected and functional for dining or workspace. Of course, it also converts to a bed.

The galley features a two-burner cooktop, microwave, and 3-cubic foot refrigerator.

The wet bath is small, but it works. With the roof vent over the shower, it’s respectably tall. At 6’5”, Scott can just stand in there. So if you are taller than that, you will have to crouch.

More nice features of the 2024 Lance 825 truck camper

  • Backup camera
  • Truma on-demand water heater
  • A/C
  • Rooftop solar
  • Queen-sized bed in over-cab bedroom
  • Maxxair fan
  • Electric side awning
  • Manual back awning
  • Exterior speakers
  • HappiJac jack system
  • Exterior propane connection for grill or griddle
  • Outdoor shower
  • Dual shades screen/blackout
  • Roof ladder

What’s not to like?

If you like to cook, this is probably not the best camper. It lacks an oven and the fridge is small. The sink is tiny, as well—a frequent complaint of mine in small RVs.

The one shelf in the bedroom is fairly useless unless you don’t plan to move. I would have far rather seen cabinets in here or, at minimum, cargo netting to keep things in place.

How is it they put the ‘real’ fan over the bed but that worthless ‘fart-fan’ in the shower where a good fan should be? Did he show where the battery is stuffed away? I didn’t see one.

Under the seat. The build quality on my 2022 is NOT what I expected from Lance.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Nice camper. I can hardly wait to pass the information along to a friend looking for a fishing/hunting base camp. 🙂 Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
