Mountain biker’s van conversion is magnificent

By Cheri Sicard
The video below from mountain biker Heather Munive shows us what is possible with van living. Heather converted her van into a stylish luxury tiny home on wheels.

Heather built her luxury van conversion on a 2021 Mercedes 170 Sprinter van chassis. She had lots of help from her dad on the build and it took them about six months to complete and turn the empty van into a livable luxury tiny home.

The inside of Heather’s van consists of a bed, shower, bathroom, full kitchen, and a lounge/dining area.

On the outside, they added a large Thule awning, a bike rack for Heather’s mountain bikes on the back door, a 30-amp RV plug, and sturdy Thule locks on the side and back doors.  Heather also upgraded to some “beefier” tires.

The van’s roof supports 400 watts of Renogy solar panels that power her lithium batteries.

The driver and passenger seats swivel around to combine with bench seating for a dining and living space area that’s big enough to comfortably seat four. The bench hides storage underneath.

luxury van conversion interiorHer kitchen features an induction cooktop, a single farm-style sink, a pull-out pantry, and a mini fridge with a freezer compartment.

She rests comfortably on a full-sized bed in the back of the van. A garage area under the bed can be accessed from both inside and outside the van. It’s a huge space capable of holding up to four mountain bikes!

Heather has a wet bath with a shower and a portable toilet, and another shower outside.

Other van amenities include A/C, a Maxxair fan, and an outdoor slide-out table.

Heather and her dad did an amazing job utilizing every inch of space in this DIY luxury van conversion.  A lot of commercial manufacturers could learn a lot from them!

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Yes, this is a thoughful and beautifully executed RV. The slideout holding her bikes and tires was a great idea. The entire RV is full of great ideas. Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Appears to be a very high quality build. Wiring is secured for rough travel and I would presume the quality continues in the walls to all the plugs and switches. Very nice!
