Where there’s a will, there’s a way! In the video below, Steve Wallis [1.56M subscribers, 265M views], whose motto is “always be camping,” shares his disguised camper that must be the most stealth way to camp ever. Who would ever guess that this junker truck, filled with tarp-covered yard waste, holds a secret inside—a comfortable camper? Steve says he loves to explore absurdity when it comes to camping. You must see this one to believe it, so be sure to watch the video.
According to Steve, nothing is less suspicious than a junky truck filled with garden debris. As stealth camping was his goal, that’s exactly what he designed his disguised camper to look like.
He accesses the camper through the window in his truck. He built it out of old wooden pallets and, yes, that is really yard waste intertwined between those pallets. With all the green leaves surrounding the interior, it’s actually quite pretty inside. Far prettier than the outside.
In the video, we tag along to a lakeside spot that normally would not allow overnight camping.
Steve has a rice cooker powered by a lithium battery and a power inverter to cook on. I was amazed that the small rice cooker only drew 270 watts at full power.
Steve also has a comfortable bed to sleep in.
A small USB rechargeable fan keeps things cool and helps to keep the bugs, which were prolific at this lakeside spot, off.
Even though this setup is too basic for my current needs, I heartily applaud Steve’s spirit and innovation.

Exactly what I was thinking, Fred. So he has to replenish his ‘camo’ every week or so. Silliest thing I’ve ever seen. But, leave it to Cheri to find this entertaining stuff. Keep up the good work.
Pretty sure this was a one-shot deal. Steve posts his stealth-camping videos weekly, and they are always entertaining.

If you have to “stealth camp” it kinda insinuates an illegal and/or unwanted and undesireable presence. Why does RVTravel even promote such an activity?

I follow Steve on Youtube he is always coming up with strange stuff (he is not homeless) and has a respectable following.
Have followed along with Steve on his escapades for about 5 years. He began this vein of exploration 7 years ago when the world was more sane – there wasn’t the extreme homeless/immigration issues we have today. He’s like family now as we (the audience) have witnessed the purchase/reno of his property, recently, the tragic death of his dearly beloved wife, and many clever overnight experiences.
He is a creative, humble, outdoor-loving, easy-going guy (qualities I love about the ‘true rv’ demographic) happy to see his face here 🙂 In the same way I like to see the familiar face of Liz Amazing here as well. Thanks for posting his stealth truck story in your publication.
