In the video below, we join Jared Gillis of All About RVs, one of the winners of our 2024 RV video awards, for a discussion of unusual RV gear that you and your rig might find useful. These are the things that Jared says nobody is talking about.
For the record, all of the unusual RV gear and gadgets on this list are optional, none of it covers essentials like hoses and electrical gear that all RVers need. But there are some terrific suggestions here.
Jared’s unusual RV gear picks:
Jase Case: Jase provides medical supplies you can travel with. They have programs for both emergency medications and prescriptions. Board-certified physicians help you order and build the medical supply case that best fits your needs. The bottom line is that the Jase Case allows you to travel for up to a year without worrying about emergency supplies or necessary prescription drugs.
MoonShade: An unusual suction cup-mounted, portable, movable awning you can use almost anywhere on your RV. Put the shade anywhere you need it.
Collapsible bucket: Not only does a collapsible bucket take up less storage space, but it can often squeeze into tight RV spots, like under the sink, that regular buckets can’t.
Fire blanket: A great safety item to carry, the emergency fire blanket can snuff out flames without the need for a fire extinguisher (not that it would hurt to have one of those, too).
Jump starter: This gadget is far easier to use, not to mention more compact, than jumper cables. No need for a second vehicle either. Just hook it up and jump-start your battery. In emergencies, you can even use this gadget on a dead RV battery, say to bring the slide in.
3D printer: While Jared does not travel with his 3D printer, he has used it continuously over the years to make small parts to repair his RV. Get more details in the video.
Swedish dishcloths: Using these little washable, yet eventually disposable, towels save on thousands of paper towels.

Thank you, Cheri! Jared is a full-timer; we aren’t. No, don’t have any of these, but I would like a fire blanket. That Jase Case is borderline prohibitively expensive. Have a great weekend and safe travels!
