Hello Dave,
We have a 2004 Winnebago Adventurer 31Y motorhome. I contacted you earlier about another issue and the replacement went great!
I believe my city fill/tank fill valve has gone bad. In city fill position, after about 12 hours or so, water was coming out of the tank overflow. I shut off the campground feed and it eventually stopped. I tried it again later and believe I could hear water running through the system. So, for now we are using tank water.
I noticed that the valve top may be screwed off? I was wondering if you know if it can be rebuilt or must it be replaced? Thank you. —Patrick, 2004 Winnebago Adventurer 31Y

Hi Patrick,
It could be either the city fill/tank fill valve, or the check valve at the water pump. We had a similar situation with a 2003 Winnebago Adventurer that had a leaky fill valve, but it would relieve pressure just enough to start the water pump. We thought we had a leak somewhere and did find dripping water in the shower.
Replacing the seats stopped the leak but did not fix the water pump starting inadvertently. I removed the pump and did a pressure test on the bench. It held pressure for two days, so it was not the check valve.
When you are connected to city water, the pressure goes through the water lines and back through the pump. It has a check valve to keep the water from backflowing and filling the fresh water tank. It could be a weak valve, or it could be calcium and lime built up keeping it from sealing.
Apparently, the ball valve in the old component was not closing all the way, so it allowed some water to seep out, reducing the pressure and the on-demand pump sensed it and started. I replaced the fill valve and it worked fine. We got the part from Winnebago Parts Online. Ask for my nephew, Mitchell!
It was a fairly easy R&R, although we did have a little struggle with access to the actual valve. We had to take the face plate off the service center, which you provided a photo of. We also had to remove some of the other plumbing lines to get at the back of the valve where the nut was located.
