In the video above we get a quick tour of the 2023 Braxton Creek Bushwhacker 12SK teardrop trailer courtesy of Pete from Bish’s RV of the Quad Cities, Iowa.
Braxton Creek calls this a teardrop trailer, but it really isn’t as far as the traditional shape is concerned, which gives it more space.
This small, rugged trailer is a functional big step up from tent camping without going FULL RV! At only 6’10” in height, and that includes the rooftop cargo rack, the Bushwhacker will fit in most garages!
Inside are cabinets and drawers for storage, some counter space, an IRV entertainment center, a furnace to keep you warm on chilly nights, and an air conditioner to keep you cool when it’s hot out. A big 3-speed Vortex vent fan in the ceiling helps with ventilation, as do the windows in both doors. And, of course, the mattress-covered floor space provides plenty of room for comfortable sleeping.
A water heater and water pump provide hot and cold water to the outdoor kitchen and shower. Apparently, older Bushwhacker models did not include hot water or outdoor showers, so those are some nice camping upgrades.
Unlike most teardrop trailers which open in the back to reveal the kitchen, the Bushwhacker’s outdoor kitchen slides out from the side of the trailer. It includes a propane griddle and a stainless steel sink. Another exterior door reveals a small 12-volt refrigerator.
The converter can handle lead acid or lithium batteries, should you want to upgrade (I would).

What’s not to like?
As I said, this is a step up from tent camping, so it is small and simple. That’s fine, but what it does lack, in my opinion, is space for some sort of toilet. To my mind, one of the biggest advantages of an RV is not having to go out in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
All things considered, the kitchen space in traditional teardrop trailers is far more functional than the slide-out kitchen here, so while somewhat functional, this kitchen lacks both prep space and storage.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Yes, having to leave the RV to go potty is more similar to “tenting” than “RVing.” So, too, is showering outside rather than inside. I see this as superior to a pop-up camper because it is hard sided, giving more protection from weather and critters, but otherwise pretty similar, huh? Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
Seems like a lot of money for a teardrop
For the same length trailer at about the same cost (dealer’s price, not MSRP), I would buy a Braxton Creek Bushwacker 15DS. It solves both the exterior kitchen and external shower-toilet problems. It has an interior kitchen with microwave and a DRY bath with separate shower and toilet. AND you can stand up in it!
