Forest River motorhomes recalled: Door could open while moving

3

Forest River is recalling certain 2019 Forest River Berkshire motorhomes. The affected vehicles have entry doors with latch rods that may be improperly adjusted, allowing the door to open while moving.

If the door opens while moving it can increase the risk of injury or a crash.

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will readjust the door latch rod, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-522-1368. Forest River’s number for this recall is 40-0853.

Well this doesn’t surprise me, I’ve had nothing but grief with my door latch. Was locked in after replacement. Third latch different vendor SEEMS ok now or at least so far .

Question if you’re inside your RV and the deadbolt fails to retract do you have the tools necessary to dissemble the latch and open the door? Particularly if you only have one door?

Hey Jeff, thats a scary thought. I’m not even sure that you can disassemble any part of ANY dead bolt or door latch on ANY RV from the inside! On my motor home if that was aa problem & I couldn’t unlock the door, there is no way I could force it open as it’s really a sturdy door & the only door. I’m going to take a serious look at my locks.
