RVers to the Peace Garden State may be in for some utility improvements. That is if they visit any of the four North Dakota state parks upgrading their RV utilities.
While the campgrounds in these parks already have electrical hookups, those using 50-amp service have been stuck using the weaker 30-amp connections. No more!
North Dakota state parks—50-amp service a reality
A press release from the state’s Parks and Recreation agency says, “Campers will notice a significant improvement in power and water delivery to their RVs after completion of a large upgrade project in several North Dakota state parks this fall.” Having 50-amp service is significant, but the improvements don’t stop there.
Right now, RVers who want a fresh water connection get to share. Two adjacent sites have but a single water tap. No more bringing a splitter, nor worrying if water pressure will take a downturn when in the shower.
Crews will start making the utility upgrades on September 9. No completion date for the work has been announced.
Where will you see the upgrades?
You’ll find the upgrades at these state parks:
- Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park
- Lewis and Clark State Park
- Grahams Island State Park
- Lake Metigoshe State Park

Thank you, Riss and Tina! 🙂 How nice! 🙂 Great news! Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
We camped there July 9 – 10, 2024 soon after the ‘NEW” campground opened.
The 2023 winning bid of $244,000 by AMC Construction Company of CALIFORNIA to upgrade NORTH DAKOTA’S West Ashtabula Crossing is a disappointment due to poorly done work on many of the site pads. It appears that no compaction was done to avoid soft ground causing RV tires to sink in causing ruts and difficulty leveling. Looks like a rush job to finish before July 4th. Of the THREE camping areas, TWO have concrete outhouses. The upgrade to new 30 & 50 amp electrics is good.
