RVers and outdoor travelers can now take advantage of a Starlink free month through the company’s first-ever referral program. By sharing a referral link with friends or family, both the referrer and the new subscriber can earn a full month of service at no cost.
The program works with the compact Starlink Mini dish, designed for on-the-go connectivity, making it easier than ever to stay online while camping, road-tripping, or exploring remote destinations. In some areas, service can even start for as little as $89, giving travelers affordable access to reliable satellite internet.
At the same time, SpaceX has revived a major discount on the Starlink Mini dish. U.S. buyers can now grab the backpack-sized device for $299, down from $499, while Canadians can pick one up for CAD $399, down from CAD $599.
The Mini keeps travelers, campers, and remote workers connected off-grid. It packs into a backpack, has a built-in Wi-Fi router, and sets up in under 10 minutes—ideal for quick stops at campgrounds, national parks, or RV parks.
Starlink free month and roam plan conditions
The Starlink Mini requires a Starlink Roam plan to work across multiple locations. In the U.S., the Unlimited Roam plan costs $165 per month, while a lower-cost option with capped data is available for $50.
For those who want to pause service temporarily, Starlink’s new Standby Mode costs $5 per month, offering minimal speeds for basic browsing and messaging while keeping the account active.
Eligible subscribers can share referral links through the Starlink app or website. Once a friend activates service with the link, both the referrer and new subscriber receive a free month of service within 30 days.
Only Starlink-purchased kits qualify—Mini or standard kits bought from third-party retailers like Best Buy or Home Depot are excluded.
For RVers who rely on connectivity while traveling, the combination of the referral program and discounted Mini dish offers a compelling opportunity. With SpaceX preparing to launch high-capacity V3 satellites, internet throughput in remote areas will increase, making off-grid connectivity faster and more reliable.
Between the Starlink free month, affordable hardware, and flexible plans, staying connected on the road has never been easier.

Starlink surprised me this week with an email offer of a free in motion mini dish and $7/month Cdn stand by fee. Included in the offer was 1/2 price on the plan of my choice be it the unlimited or restricted data of 50 GB. I thought this must be some type of scam. BUT NO it was legit. My dish arrived in 2 days after ordering with expedited delivery at $0.00 cost. This was a Canadian offer by starlink right out of the blue. Starlinks reasoning in the email was ” as a long term valued customer we’re offering a free mini dish with in motion capability at speeds under 568 km /hr.’. Maybe this is a beta test? It’s already sitting on the dash of my Axis with the large windshield working fine.
Thank you for keeping us apprised of the latest Starlink offers, Russ and Tina! Perhaps one day we’ll need, want, and get Starlink. Should that happen, then my knowledge of it will be current. Have a great week and safe travels!
