Grand Design urges RVers to avoid RV repair shop

Chris from the YouTube channel “Why Wait” and Pete West from “Wests On The Move” have become prominent voices in our RV community. Recently, they engaged in a thought-provoking discussion that delves into the experiences of Grand Design RV owners and their views on my shop, California RV Specialists. As you may recall, I have written extensively about problems with Grand Design RVs.

Chris’ and Pete’s conversations bring to light some important issues within our RV industry, offering valuable insights for both current and prospective RV owners.

In these times, staying informed and connected is more important than ever. I highly recommend checking out the short clip they shared—it’s bound to spark some interesting thoughts and discussions.

Let’s keep supporting each other and sharing our experiences. Together, we can strengthen our collective voice and continue making the RV lifestyle even better for everyone.

Here are a few recent posts and videos I’ve done about issues with Grand Design RVs:

Sooner than later the lawyers will get involved in this mess about Grand Design units. Avoiding, ignoring or denying always turns out to be more expensive to your bottom line and or reputation. My suggestion is to get ahead of the problem by facing it straight on.

My brand new ’18 315RLTS was the single biggest piece of junk I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned Chevy Vegas and Ford Pintos.) Constant issues, some major, some minor from the start, and ZERO customer service from GD. The final straw was a converter (inverter?) that began to spark one evening as my wife and I were going to bed. She declared “That’s it, I’m done!” and we went to a hotel. Now we live again in a house. It is my mission in life to plead with anyone considering purchasing a GD to stay far, far away. Horrible company.

After getting burned by no-so-grand design…I enthusiastically got rid of the lemon I was sold by an ill repute dealer in Pasco,Washington. Any corporate company like GD is out for profits only and could care less about consumers…this goes on all over America and undoubtedly will only get worse unless WE the people stop catering to these greedy people. GD started out doing the right thing,,but when they sold out to a major corporation…things went downhill fast. Now people who bought their cracker boxes are paying the price…while they run off with high profits. My recommendation is shop for a unit built by Arctic Fox,Nash..or Outdoors RV.

Anyone considering a more compact trailer should also add Oliver to that list. The highest quality travel trailer made in the US today, IMO. And customer/factory service is excellent.

Too bad they don’t build trailers like Nu-Wa did or Excell anymore.

Word of mouth and articles/videos like this are the only way to get a company to shape up. Law suits are individual and the general RV public probably won’t hear about any of those settlements. We are not in the market but I appreciate you all so much

We took our Imagine travel trailer to a Blue Compass dealership and received poor customer service and worse service. Took it to an RV repair facility and we had warranty work done right as well as asked them to grease all wheel bearings. Going to an independent shop is the way to go for us.

Thank you, Dustin! 🙂 Well, if Grand Design is, as stated in the embedded video, telling owners to not go to your shop, then that speaks well of you. I have heard that ones friends is an indication of the quality of a person. Similarly, ones enemies does too. If Grand Design is annoyed, or worse, by your videos chronicling Grand Design problems, then more power to you and congratulations! 🙂 Have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Actually why pick on Grand design, basically all rvs are terribly built. Seems lots of youtubers are posting about rv manufacturers to drive views 🙂
