After an RVer reported that their carbon monoxide detector alerted when their furnace ran, Jayco found a problem. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jay Flight SLX travel trailers. The furnace exhaust vent may be missing from the exterior wall, allowing carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle. Unvented carbon monoxide increases the risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Jayco missing furnace vent safety risk remedy
Dealers will inspect and install a furnace exhaust vent as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 12, 2025. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901636.
Background
On July 2, 2025, Jayco customer service reported to the company’s compliance team that a consumer had raised a safety concern in a service survey. The owner of a 2024 Jay Flight SLX travel trailer said their furnace was not vented to the outside of the RV. While using the furnace, their carbon monoxide detector went off. The owner then took the trailer to a Jayco dealer, where a furnace exhaust vent was installed. Compliance opened an incident case to review the issue.
On July 14, 2025, the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) reviewed the case and decided it should be sent to the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC). Later, on August 6, 2025, CPAC discussed the matter and passed it on to the Safety Steering Committee for further review. On August 7 that committee voted to move the matter to a recall.

It’s crazy that nobody does a final inspection on these rv’s. The customer was lucky that they connected the carbon monoxide detector!
How does this kind of FUBAR get past factory inspections and dealer inspection.
This is negligence bordering on criminal.
RVT provides RVers with check lists for loading and maintaining their RVs. Maybe RVT needs to provide check lists to RV manufacturers to make sure they provided all the parts needed in an RV.
